man the Jaguar fanbase is divided over this Tebow mess

  • Some fans(mostly gator fans) want him in Jacksonville to sell tickets while other fans like my self do not want him here, because once he loses the job the cries will be loud for him to start.

  • If I am a fan of any team going after him I wouldn't be happy. He's a hell of an athlete, but just isn't an NFL QB. The only time he put up decent stats was when defenses dropped into prevent at the end of the games. So if he didn't have the defense keeping the team in the game all game, then he was screwed

  • That is what you try to tell gator fans, but they have blind loyalty to him

Yeah I know, I'm glad I don't have to deal with that like you guys do. He was a great college QB, but that was a different position, in a way different offense than what it is in the NFL, idk why they can't understand that. And I don't mean to make this religious, but I think, like you said, it is many Gator fans that have bind loyalty to him, but I also believe that many Christian people also have that same loyalty because they think anything he does is great.

  • MJD is enough of a fan favorite around here, and he attracts a lot of fans. Plus the majority of gator players jacksonville has drafted or traded for has sucked except for Taylor and Mincey.

  • Mularkey and his staff have already built the offense and that was before he being Manning chose Denver and started the chain effect. Tebow is a great guy and I routed for him in his pro career thus far, however you do not build and offense and then when this guy comes available you change your philosophy entirely. Also, the Jags signed Qb Chad Henne and are dedicated to developing Gabbert. No to Tebow from this Jags fan. My guess Cowboys because Jerry Jones is crazy, Miami they have terrible attendance problems and Seattle because who knows why they do what they do now???? Go Noles

  • Teach the kid how to block and make sure he can catch, he would make an awesome TE.

  • He actually may end up with the Jets as their "Wildcat QB", which would be perfect for him.

  • As a jags fan, I do not want him as the qb, no matter how many tix he sells. However, if he was open to playing a h-back role then I'd be all for it. He would sell tix, be a good player and not have the city in an outcry for him to be the starter. Good for the city and the team IMO.

That would never happen. The unfortunate truth is the city is dominated by Gator fans, who for some reason, can't let their college team and pro team be seperate. Every time they don't draft a Gator player, the city is up in arms over the decision. Hell, David Lamm(whom I believe to be quite possibly the biggest idiot on 1010xl) said, a few months after the Tebow draft, that the Jags would do good to draft John Brantley(seriously, before he even took a snap). Take a listen to 1010xl, I swear some of those people are brainwashed to believe he'll be the savior of the city, and not just from a football perspective. I readily admit that it will sale tickets, but question if the long term wouldn't be hurt by it. And if we did make this decision to take Tebow, it will convince me that the front office isn't serious about winning.

  • Army, I agree 100000%. If they make the trade it will show me they want to sell tix not win games.

  • Given the amount of other, far more pressing needs on the roster, I would hope if they were serious about winning that those needs would be filled first. It's frustrating watching Smitty doing the things he does and somehow has a great reputation among the other GM's in the NFL. I'll give him credit on the D side of the ball, but when your team only averages 13 points a game, then that should tell you something about the offense(and not all of it can be put on Gabbert).

  • Hell if we can put some good receivers and better olineman around gabbert and mjd we can have a better offense, but I have a feeling Khan is going to find a way to get tebow here to sastify the Gators.

  • If you read the comment section on Jacksonville.com we have a lot of gator and tebow fans who are now Jets fans. You can tell the ones who are real fans, and the one who are just tebow fans which is sad.

  • Needs to swallow his pride and become a role player.

Whether that be at wildcat, FB, TE, or wherever he fits in best to a team's lineup.

  • Well it looks like the Tebow worshipers will get their wish, because the Broncos are giving Tebow a choice between Jacksonville and New York. I can not wait for this circus to start around town with the loud cries to make Tebow the starter.

  • If this happens, I'm convinced they rather sell tickets than win games. Short term over long term in other words. But I'll still root for them......

  • Soemthing interesting to ponder, Tebow picked the Jets, he was given the choice between the jags and the jets.

I read that is not true.

The Jags were offering to pay slightly more money of Tebow's bonus or whatever it was called, but the Jets were offering the 6th for 7th swap as well as the 4th, while the Jags were just offering the 4th. In the end the Broncos wanted the extra pick, and that Tebow was not given a choice.

    From a NY Post writer

    Bart Hubbuch ‏ @NYPost_Hubbuch
Tebow says he didn't have any choice in the decision.

    Bart Hubbuch ‏ @NYPost_Hubbuch
Tebow doesn't answer the question about whether he would have picked Jax if given the choice. Totally avoided it.
