Your top ten movies, lets see 'em

  • give a short bullet for each one too....

1-Casablanca, probably IMO the best screenplay of all time
    2-The Godfather, great American fable
3-Rocky, a cultural icon is born
4-Gone with the Wind, thing about this is, whenever amc shows it, I stop and get sucked in
5-The Godfather Part2, it sags a bit to the original, but the flashbacks and young Vito played by DeNiro is gold
6-Lawrence of Arabia, quite possibly the best filmed movie of all time
7-The Sound of Music, go ahead and laugh, but at some point you will catch yourself humming "A doe a deer, a female deer...
8-Gladiator, Russel Crowe is the coolest dude in Hollywood
9-The Man who shot Liberty valance, Lee Marvin, John Wayne and Jimmy Stewart, hell it could of been 2 hrs of them talking at a bar, and I would watch
10-Patton, George C Scott does Patton better than Patton did.

  • Not sure about an order, but my top three (movies I could watch over and over) are definitely as follows:

Pulp Fiction - Classic Tarantino crime thriller, all-star cast, what more could you want?
Clerks - Part 1...part 2 is funny too but not near as great as the original. Just a really neat flick with a hilarious outlook on life
V For Vendetta - Natalie Portman, great acting, great story, Natalie Portman, awesome action sequences...perfect movie.

With the following seven rounding out my top ten, again, in no particular order since it changes on the reg:

Inception - One of those movies where you just feel satisfied after watching.
Fight Club - One of those movies that is just a fixture in any self-respecting movie collection
Inglourious Basterds - Tarantino again, and the way this movie was done was just superb...Brad Pitt was gold in this one.
Crank - Almost a guilty pleasure -type movie. Not what most people would consider a great movie, but Statham rules.
A Clockwork Orange - I've never seen a movie use music as uniquely and ironically as this one did. Awesomely weird
    Miracle - self-explanatory IMO
The Shawshank Redemption - See Fight Club.

  • The Goonies-the older you get, the funnier this movie becomes
The Dark Knight-just an excellent movie, definitely wish more comic book movies would take this approach
Inception-loved the concept of this film
    Braveheart-epic movie
The Last Samurai-loved the shots done for this movie, the story, acting, and battles were excellent
    Predator-two governors, enough said
Aliens-still one of the creepiest creatures ever imagined, I loved the original, but the sequel was more entertaining for me
Training Day-probably one of the most entertaining dirty cop movies out there
The Matrix-the sequels weren't nearly as good, but the first movie was definitely amazing
Conan(the original)-what is best in life? To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women

  • Can't rank by numbers

These already mentioned would be in my top 10:
    The original Star Wars Trilogy
    Shawshank Redemption
The Matrix (two would not be in top 10 but I do like two for the fights...three can suck it)
    Goonies

These I would fit in somewhere:
    Gran Torino
Predator (most of it was lame but after all the useless people get killed off when its just Arnold vs Dreads it is awesome)
    Boondock Saints
    Any Shrek Movie
    Se7en
    Terminator 2: Judgment Day

    Honorable Mentions for hilariousness:
    Dumb and Dumber
    Anchorman
    Talladega Nights
    Step Brothers

So glad someone else liked Pandorum it wasn't the greatest sci fi ever made but the first person cluelessness of the movie really drew me in.

I also liked The Mist. Most of it was a little weird but the ending was great. That and The Strangers with Liv Tyler. Really creepy movie.

BTW A Few Good Men was also a really good movie. Labyrinth is also good as a guilty pleasure movie. ET is up there too that I forgot.

  • Godfather part 1 and 2

    Star wars trilogy

    Lord of the rings trilogy

Blow - Johnny Depp was amazing in this movie, check out the interview they did with the actual drug dealer he played - he was spot on

    The dark knight

Donnie Brasco - Depp killed it again

The Kingdom of Heaven - the directors cut added about 30 mins of movie time and it changed everything, I saw it in theatres and thought meh... Saw the extended version and it changed everything

    Braveheart

    Goodfellas

    Fight Club

I am also a fan of Pandorum. Definitely not the best, but still an entertaining movie. Event Horizon is another sci-fi horror that I really enjoy.

A Few Good Men should have been on my top 10. It is hard to come up with just 10, I normally forget a movie and I have plenty of movies I really like that I could swap into my list. My first 5 on my list are probably the only movies where I say they are always up there and won't be swapped out for another.
