When did LeBron become LeFlop?

  • He's a great basketball player, why does he keep acting like he's a soccer player and falling over and crying every time someone so much as looks in his direction.

I sure don't remember Jordan flopping around like a censored

He continues to show that he's got all the talent in the world, but he'll never be a legend - he doesn't have the heart.

  • To me, he's got the physical tools and talent of a man. But as for the rest, he's a man-child in the promIsed land. The normal rules and strictures jes don't apply to him. I see it in some of the Titans and Blue Raider athletes I work with. Entitled to whatever they want with little or no effort because they Happen to excel at a GAME.

Now that's normally just a few here and there. Very many are appreciative of their innate skill set, and use it to better not only themselves, but others as well. It's too bad the sheetheads are the ones that get far too much of the press. Thing is, the rotten apples usually end badly. Tough teety said the keety but da mirk tastes fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine!

  • Lebron and the Heat already have their ticket punched to be representing the East this year. I believe that once Lebron wins a championship and I hope that this is the year, that he will blow up. According to a insider that I heard on the radio (can't remember his name so take it for what it's worth) said that LeBron lacks confidence mainly because he has always been scrutinized since in high school with lofty expectations and then when he does not succeed it is easy to beat him up. LeBron wants to be like by everyone and he was mentally beat up last year with the backlash from his decision.

The game was different when Jordan was winning championships. Basketball was more physical during Jordan's playing days than now, although there is more contact once the playoffs arrive. Flopping unfortunately has become part of the game but LeBron is not the only one partaking in the festivities. Kobe, DWade, Manu, Melo and many others do it. MJ was not clear of criticism either when it came to breaking the rules. Remember the 3-step rule that seemed like it only applied to him. Basically, the bigger the name, the more wiggle room the refs have with the superstar.

Looking at LeBron stats, it is foolish to not think that he won't be a "Legend". The following comes from his profile page on NBA.com and the link is attached:

  • Raiding - I'll agree that his stats are impressive. When I say legend, I'm talking about guys that will be remembered 50 years later. For years everyone kept saying that LeBron was going to be better than MJ - that's the kind of legend I'm talking about - and, what, 7 years later(?) he still doesn't have a ring.

I completely agree that whoever the stars are in the NBA they will always get calls and get an unfair advantage. That said, there's a difference between taking an extra step and flopping around like a censored. One is about being aggressive and one is about playing weakly to get a call. He's the best player in the game and he should play hard and well - not meekly, looking to get calls.

That's why I don't see him as a legend. He's looking to play well and do well, but I don't see the fire. I don't see him taking what he thinks he deserves - I see him playing well and looking to get handed what he deserves.

Though, I like the logic that if he gets a ring he will finally become confident. That makes perfect sense, and if he turns that corner he will likely be a legend.

But, yesterday, he looked like a censored

  • MJ was 28 when he won his first title, his 7th season I think

Yet LeBron James at 27 is a bum because he hasnt won a title yet?

I'm not sure how to respond, considering I didn't say anything like that. If you reread you'll notice I said he's the best player in the game...

Jordan's first season was 84-85, and his first championship was 90-91. This is LeBron's 8th season. Still (like I said already), if LeBron get's that drive he's missing, he'll likely become a legend.

btw, here's a bit of reading if you don't think he's flopper: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/05/27/lebron-james-flops-acting-video_n_867885.html

Im not calling out you specifically, Im just sick of hearing rip LeBron and his lack of rings when he has the same amount MJ did at the same age...and Im not even a Heat or a LeBron fan

  • And speaking of people acting like B words, Jordan couldn't beat the Bad Boy Pistons and he had to whine and complain until the NBA started calling games differently. If you dont like the ticky tack calls in the NBA, MJ has a lot to do with it.

    734Nole

  • Jordan was a better player and winner. Sorry.

LeBron plays on a better team then Jordan did in his early years so dont give me the - Jordan didnt have more by 28 argument.

Jordan didnt fade in the playoffs like Lebron did last year - and that is the main reason you will hear the complainers.

LeBron is a great player but he needs to take himself to legand level no one else can. When the last second was on the clock Jordan, Bird, Johnson, Erving, etc wanted the ball and more oftne then not delivered in the clutch - Lebron hasnt (yet but I think he will eventually).

  • Everyone flops nowadays...I hate that it has become that way but until there is some kind of repercussion for the unsportsmanlike act of flopping then it will continue to happen over and over again. Jordan even sold a few calls in his day when he came back from retirement. It wasn't that egregious but its unfortunately part of the game now.

  • What is the difference between flopping and a catcher framing the pitch?

A big difference. A better analogy would be a batter pretending to get HBP.

  • I'm not saying that LeBron doesn't flop sometimes but I think he gets fouled harder than most people because he is such a monster and people know they have to foul hard or it will be another "and 1". He may be expectng more contact sometimes and just over play it. Or he's a complete pansy. Both are possibilities.

check out the links I posted above. Especially the one where the camera catches him wink at his coach after a flop.

That said, he looked pretty good last night...

A big difference... really? What about baseball players acting like they caught a ball they trapped? Or football players acting like they caught a ball that bounced? Or punters flopping after the kick?

Every case a player is acting in order to fool an official.

Yep. Agree here. Really dont see how they're any different.
