I haven't read those. I bought them for my daughter for Christmas so let me know what you think of them.

I also recommend anything by Terry Brooks. He is by far my favorite sci-fi writer. I have been reading his books since I was in second grade (not that they are for young adults, I was just an early reader) and have loved every one. The Shannara series is my favorite although the Void and the Word series is a good one as well. With the success of the LOR movies I honestly would not be surprised to see some of Brooks' books on the big screen.

Raymond E.Feist is another good sci-fi author.

Just finished the first one, liked it a lot more than I thought I would.

Reading Tongues of Serpents at the moment, book 6 I think in a series by Naomi Novik. Napoleonic era fiction but with dragons ;)

Unfortunately, this is my least favorite of the books. Hard to beat the Storm of Swords and a Clash of Kings though.

Game of thrones, book 3

Recently finished Prince of Thorns by Mark Lawrence. I enjoyed it, but it's not for everyone. The main character is a quick witted brutal teenager who is basically a sociopath. The story is about the many kings trying to make a claim on the empire and of course this young man is one of them. It's paced well with plenty of action. It's also a quick read coming in around 300 plus pages. If you like fantasy novels in harsh settings with less than heroic characters then you may enjoy this.

Currently, I am reading the Black Lung Captain (Book 2 in the Tales of the Ketty Jay) by Chris Wooding. It's the follow up to Retribution Falls which was good. The books remind me of Firefly and Serenity. That's a good thing to me.

The Longest Winter...big WW II buff and I teach the subject as well. Battle of the Bulge is our next topic in class.

Yes, one of my favorite King books.

I don't read anything that anyone would be interested in, since I usually read history books.

But, when I do actually read a book, instead of political blogs, and sports information, I like spy stuff or asian novels.

If anyone has something to recommend, I'll put it on my list.
