WELL, I DON'T BELIEVE IT!

  • Bud Adams, the owner of the Tennessee Titans, and a not too recent graduate from Clown College, AND perhaps the third stookidest owner in the NFL, is saying he WANTS Peyton Manning, and is prepared to make him very happy. This is the same intellectual mountain that brought in Steve McNair - an OK QB that pushed his way up to mediocrity and then slowly crashed. THEN, in a fit of aggravated mental acuity, he insisted on drafting Vince YoungintheCococnut, or as Bud would put it: "Steve McNair lite", who proceeded to beat the stinkbutt teams, and lose to the better ones, and then show the same intellectual dynamics reflected by his score in the mid-single digits on the Wundrelick calibration, by melting down in the head panic when things didn't go the way he wanted.

OK, so we look to become a slightly better than average team, mebbe make the playoffs every other year or so; and NOW, our Helium Head leader, wants to spend multi-millions on a great person and perhaps the PAST - best QB of his generation, which will be a major waste of bucks, when we need DL's, DB's, LB's, WR's, and prolly better equipment managers. But nooooooooooooooooo, we're gonna engender a bit o good publicity, and have a lot of sessions of smiling and shaking hands and stale finger food, by bringing in the "Big P". I think the old man has gone completely around the bend and needs to be permanently set in his rocking chair out on his lake villa somewhere in the wilds surrounding Houston, and leave the football operational decisions to someone that has a clue. And another thing.............................

  • I'd rather hear what Eli Manning is doing, instead of anymore on Peyton Manning. One guy is the reigning Super Bowl MVP, and the other we don't even know if he can play.

    Its ridiculous.

  • With PM's legend status from UT days, Bud would be an idiot to not publicly state he's trying to get him back "home". The draw back to Tenn has to be enticing to PM at the very least. In the end, PM is most likely not seriously considering it and will likely say "thanks but no thanks". That way, everyone wins in the end. Face saved.

All that said, I have to agree with every talking head that if PM is 90+%, he good enough by himself to bring you 10 wins. Indy proved that this year. He's better than any other QB option out there for Tenn right now and you can do some serious damage with him behind center. Period. But that is a win today mentality not a build or the future mentality. Depends on what the franchise is looking to do.

There would be merit to what you say, if we were all operating under the same level of understanding. With Bud Adams, that's just not the case. I have relationships with several of the Titans cadre, and can say not everyone would be on board - with even a statement of his that was geared to be an enticement.

Whatever, Manning isn't going to come within several states of Tennessee.

Sooooooooooooo the Titans' all-time leading passer, a 3 time Pro Bowler and 2003 Co-MVP was just okay? lol interesting

  • Report: Peyton to visit the Titans | ProFootballTalk

And the Peyton watch continues. Despite a report that the hottest free agent since Reggie White, or ever, was done making trips, Peyton Manning will be conducting Rocky Top one more time when he heads Nashville to visit the Titans, according to Michael Lombardi of NFL Network.
