  • Duh.

What is that show about anyway?

  • Great rebound episode...stepped it up after a bad showing the week before.

So what was the point of the walker in the field that they showed at the beginning and the end? Some vague metaphor or what?

A couple of my hair-brained theories

    - The girl who wanted to commit suicide may end up becoming the cure for the zombie virus. She got sick with something that ran a fever but didn't become a walker after being exposed very close to her zombie mom. If you know how vaccines are created and how the smallpox discovery was started with a scientist who took cowpox pustules and rubbed them on people who became resistant to smallpox, this would make vague albeit serendipitous sense.

    - So I saw the thing Corey posted about burning zombies creating an air-borne toxin. That would be highly unlikely scientifically (but then again so is a virus that keeps you alive despite all of your vital internal organs rotting and stabbing through the front of the head when the only activity in the brain was seen in the brain stem). The burning of the flesh should kill off any pathogen and denature any protein within. However, since it is fiction they could suggest a mutation of some kind that has now caused this effect.

-As a hunch, I think Shane may end up with the "others" across town that are more violent like he is. He may also get blondie to defect with him.

    About?

Oh and the best show ever is easily "24"

I dunno about that do you have to collectively include all seasons of 24 or can we just take the earlier good ones.

I want the opposite. Shane is the only character that makes any sense to me. Everyone else are just babies that want to just hang out on the farm and hope that things get better instead of trying to do something different. Shane is the only one that has any cajones.

His character's just a douche. I don't think the show's all that great but it can be entertaining at times. There are some episodes that are straight up boring. Having a bunch of "walkers" roaming around is the only time it's worthwhile. And leaving the farm would be beyond stupid at this point. It's the only "safe" place. Leave the farm to do what? Go where? Find some miracle drug to kill/convert all the walkers in one fell swoop? Meh.

(Edit: Haven't seen the most recent episode.)

True....season one set the bar very high, i dont think they ever topped it.

    Dennis Hooper was awesome.

Yeah Season 1 was king. I also liked the seasons where Tony was a good guy. After that, it sucked having him around.

Kinda liked Season 2 when Mason took one for the team after being a total jagoff most of the season.

Shane is not very smart...he doesn't know how to get along with people which is what is needed to survive. Daryl is smarter than Shane and that is saying something

Rick is kinda too soft but he's sharp...they are almost on two different extremes with neither being right. Rick did show some cajones though by offing those two guys in the bar.

Um...the owner of the farm has made it evident that he doesn't want them there. That's why they will have to leave.

No offense to the profession, but how many run-of-the-mill police officers are rocket scientists? Off the top of my head I can think of 3 guys I know that are EXACTLY like Shane.

Great aspect of the story, IMO, that none of them are especially "smart". There's no Gilligan, no physician, no nurse, no ex CIA/special forces, no gilligan, no bear gryls, no billy the exterminator.

Just a pretty normal group of people with nobody having any especially helpful skills outside of firearm training.

I want Dale to die so bad

He's like a woman that can't make up her mind. I think if the skin head were dead he wouldn't mind them sticking around. Obviously they can't just stick around on the farm free of walkers. The show would be too lame. So I imagine they either leave, get kicked off or run off by walkers. The skin head's a horrible leader.

Agree...he was coming around before Shane shot up the barn tenants

The show seems to be coming to a head where either of the latter two possibilities for the farm no longer being theirs will happen.

I don't know if that's what the walker in the field was supposed to mean (eventually they will get run off by migrating walkers) or not

The getting kicked off also seems very likely with the "others" in town and I think also makes sense that Shane and Blondie could betray the group to help the others take the farm and run off the ones they view as weak.
