Not that I am starting an argument, but I think you might need a better source than the University of Florida News.

I have read a lot of interesting things about this topic. Even though Florida may not have been the first school to have its players drink some variation of the drink that would become Gatorade, they were just the most successful team to do so during that era.

Rutgers had Sportade, but they sucked. I guess we could say Florida State had Seminole Firewater, but they weren't any good that year either. But after experimenting with it in 1965, the following year Florida finished 9-2, won the Orange Bowl, and Steve Spurrier won the Heisman.

Have never tried Vitamin Water. Just isn't appealing to me.

I liked Fierce Grape when I was younger, but the flavor has really outgrown me. I remember it used to have Vince Carter on the label back when he was awesome.

Gatorade or any version of it be it powerade, firewater, or piss is a waste of time unless you participate in high impact exercise programs or athletics (and maybe a case for vigorous manual laborers). Even then, it is a waste of time to drink it any other time than after said exercise or labor.

The products are unethically marketed. I'm not saying the gubment should intervene or anything I'm just saying that having a 1/3 of the juice aisle stocked up with the stuff in 50 billion flavors is not marketing to athletes...its marketing to joe blow on the couch who thinks he is drinking a "healthy sports drink" that just happens to taste good when in reality he's drinking soda minus the fizz with a bunch of salt dumped in it.

Ever since UF stole the idea from us and patented it (true story), I try to make myself refuse to touch Gatorade. I did have a serious love for the AM flavor and could not resist it, but luckily they discontinued it (I think).

So, powerade it is, and I actually prefer its orange or yellow version to gatorade.

Powerade. Gatorade is not allowed in my house. Even of it wasn't made in gunsville. The name itself is awful.
