    I'll start with a simple question, who's going to be the other QB starter at the spring game? (assuming CT starts for one squad)

  • Looks like Winston as Coker still isn't 100%.

    Do they still run the spring game that weird way where the 1st team offense goes against the 2nd team defense and the 1st team defense goes against the 2nd string offense?

    If so, I am really interested in how Winston fairs against our #1's on D and vice versa with whoever the hell our second string DE's are against Trickett (Clint).

    NOTE: I felt the need to specify Clint so this thread wouldn't possibly derail into a spiral of dog poop. It's like they can smell it in threads if you mentioned "he that is not to be named's" name.

    Spring game has been with teams drafted by senior captains the last few years. I think that's how it will be this year too.

    Really hope one of Coker or Winston just steps up and claims the starting spot with no room to question whether they are the right guy. That will (a) shut people up, and (b) mean we are in good position to win some games. Hell, I don't care if it's Trickett, Maguire, or a walk on as long as they establish that they are the man for the job.

    according to Fisher, JWs will be at football whenever there's a conflict. So, I expect him at the game.

  • I may be hard on Clint sometimes. But if Jimbo believes he is the best thing for our program the next two years and be beats out JW and JC for the job then I will support the decision until I have evidence to do so otherwise.

    That being said I would prefer to go with Winston.

  • Uncle Nash will be there. Friday night will be a challenge, I hear there is a BBQ cook-off, Greek and I will EAT! Baseball game with Nate, maybe Greek and anybody else who wants to see me rant at the umps. CIRCUS! If you've read my stuff at all, you may remember: When I was trying to walk on our Football team as a DB in 1970; I got ran off for being small, but slow. Mean but out of the play. Smart but always behind. Joined the Circus instead and had a blast! The participants were a whole lot softer and weren't interested in separating me from my noggin. Yeah, I'll be buying a ticket. You betcha. Athletic young women in tight leotards, and bare legs and..........

    Anyone interested in hanging out with us a bit, PM me and we'll exchange phone numbers, textee alertee stuff and the like.

    I'll also be at Jam's tailgate, snorking up grilled beast parts before kick-off. Would like to meet ALL of you, or at least those sober enough to remember my name, cause I'm bound to fergit!

  • We won't make it this year. Fortunately, we'll have our own taste of FSU here in Sarasota, as the beach volleyball team is coming to our most bodacious white sand beach on Siesta Key for a big NCAA tournament.

  • Hyped beyond belief for the Spring Game! Last time I was in the Doak, was when we beat South Carolina 35-10 in 1989. Their TD was a late - garbage time thing against our scrubeenies. My new wife surprised the sheet outta me by jumping up and down and screaming the whole time, and cussing out a woman who asked her to be quiet. I knew I had chosen well, when I selected her as a mate to suit me at that moment. It's a good thing we're playing ourselves; otherwise I'd prolly get kicked out for hurling invective at the refs, suggesting they commit self-sodomy. Been there, done that, puked in the parking lot.

  • Nash, have you heard of anyone that's not living up to the hype? We hear a lot about who's doing well, but there must be a few guys who should have been contributors and aren't actually providing much.

    You don't have to get into details, I don't want to bash kids or anything. Just wondering who hasn't turned the corner yet. Sounds like KB is still not there, sadly

    Definitely not trying to bash, but in addition to your mention of KB, I think for me at least Bobby Hart has been a tough one to follow.

    Pretty big expectations when he was signed and we need him to step up now more than ever.

    I have heard of a couple, but in keeping with my own maxim of not bashing or even talking negative about anyone connected to our program - not to mention honoring the directives as set forth by the moderator of this board, will not talk about them here. I'd much rather look in the other direction. FSU Tackle Football is a joy in my life. When a subject descends into the realm of pejoratives, I'm out. I will PM you.

  • I guess it's probably not realistic, but I was picturing -

    X hasn't turned the corner, looks like Y is stepping up. A looks strong, but his backup, B, isn't on the same level yet.

    We don't have to call them fat, lazy, or anything else. We don't have to call them anything, I'm not actually interested in individual players as much as I'm curious where people see our weaknesses.

    Whenever I see the spring game reports it's all about who's doing well. I love to hear that stuff, but I'm also curious about where we don't have the necessary depth.

    I'm definitely interested to see how RT shakes out. We were noticeably better when Watson was in the game last year. Hart is a jr, but he's also only 18, I believe.

    I'm afraid to say it, but I actually have faith that Trickett will put together something good at RT. I know the bashing is full on wrt his recruiting ability, but I think he's a damn good gameday coach - I don't hear many arguing otherwise.
