Ocho's search for a new phone

Here's the situation, guys.
In November, my Droid 2 was stolen. It was a sad day. Not only was my phone stolen on my birthday (one I enjoyed very much), but I was relegated to the use of my three-year old Blackberry Curve. Irrelevant is which of these you deem the more unpleasant situation...however, what is relevant, is that I am now in the market for a new phone. In just over one month, I will be walking tall into Verizon and throwing down for a shiny new phone. I know, it's a whole month, I'm just trying to size up my new gadget and drool over it for a while.
I was wondering if you guys had any sort of recommendations. I'm an Android guy, but I'm (very, very, very slightly) open to an iPhone...doubt it though. As of now, I'm going to go with the Galaxy Nexus. Does anyone have any opinions on that phone, or know of any other phone out on the market that they'd like to recommend? Anyone have any knowledge of devices coming out in the next month? I'd really appreciate your help, guys.

Only if I'd had an app to do so...which also exists for Android phones.
Just never thought about downloading it. Next phone will have it, for sure.

Droiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiid! Newest versions 'r the tits! Jes deweet. Look for deals though, you can get 'em ifn ya shop and ASK for perks and discounts. Ya don't ask - ya don't git!
Try to go to a Verizon store that is more of a HUB, than some neighborhood franchise dive. We have 7 phones with them for my businesses, and if you stand up straight, look 'em in their beady eyes, you can deal. Just be sure of what you want and how far you are willing to bend to get there.
Ain't no cell phones under water!

As far as Verizon, the Droid Razr Maxx looks solid. The Nexus is really nice too. What sucks though is a new phone will come out this summer, then another new and improved in Winter. My Evo was the best phone on the market...year and half ago now it's meh in the world of smart phones.

I have a Droid. EVO 4G from sprint. I love it but will be getting an iPhone when there is the switch. Everyone has one so there is a lot of interface stiff there. Plus their app store is 10 times better.

I have a rooted EVO and its the greatest phone I've ever had. I have none.of the stupid junk that nobody uses, and flies, despite being so old.
I'm up for upgrade April. I do wanna see what the Galaxy Nexus has to offer.
Iphones can suck it. Enjoy being a slave to a piece of fruit while I have open source goodness 24/7.

I've thought about rooting. I'm just too afraid to mess up the phone. What are the benefits of rooting the phone?
Also, would you root the Galaxy Nexus right away, or wait for more widespread support for ICS to come around?

Just because iphone is popular, doesn't make it the best. There's reasons why a nexus cost more than an iphone 4s.

Wasn't trying to call you out but you jogged up a funny memory of my friend who "had his phone stolen on his birthday" because he threw it at a stripper and said call me while absolutely s* faced.

The only reason I did is because I shattered the screen, and replaced it myself, voiding the warranty. I have free wireless tethering and was able to take off the bandwidth restrictions, making my 3G connection very fast.
There are huge upsides, but ya better damn sure know what you're doing. I wouldnt root the nexus right away, unless I was 100% confident.

Also, yeah, it was indeed a night of drunken debauchery. It was 'round about 4 AM, and the party had all left. My roommate's girlfriend had closed the windows but evidently forgot to lock them. Everyone in the apartment was passed out by then. These fools came in through our living room window WHILE WE WERE ASLEEP, took almost everything of value from the living room and my bedroom (it's the closest to the front of the apartment) before a friend of ours woke up and saw them, and at which point, they bolted. TPD really did a whole lot of nothing, it was extremely frustrating.
