Oh YES! I have all the seasons you can buy on DVD. As an advertising agent, this speaks to my core, and in many ways is true to what happens politically in the larger shops. Their struggles to manage client expectations is classic and very spot on. The constant battle to come up with creative content that will rise above the madding crowd of screamin' massaging is an issue all of us in this industry face. I hope they carry this a good ways, this and perhaps 2-3 more seasons. Bring it ON babeeeeee!

The writing is sharp and smart, Draper is the quintessential Sharp Dude, and the ensemble acting is as good as any - anywhere. Yers truly has rubbed elbows with a few of those Madison Avenue types - gotta few scars to prove it. I used to stay at the Empire Hotel on West 63rd., just across the street from where Bill Murray met with Sigourney Weaver at the Met Fountian, and did that spin around - mimicing the skater in "Ghostbusters".

  • I have been wanting to break in to this show and I'm not sure how. Does one need to start with episode 1?

    Hi Laura.

This is one of those shows where it would be good to start with Season 1 - Episode 1. Four seasons worth is a lot to buy at one time though - I bought them one at a time, loaned them to my sister-in-law after watching, and now they're out there in cryladyland somewhere. You can start anywhere, but at least try to read as much of the backstory as you can - perhaps wikipedia can offer some help with that. You may not like how the female characters are treated at first, but most of them do grow throughout the series, and develop/show personal strength. You will not be wasting your time by getting involved.

  • Sounds like something to pencil in for maternity leave. I got pretty tired of daytime tv the first go 'round during those first few weeks when I only got out of bed to change a diaper.

  • You definitely want to start from season one. The relationships in the show are very intertwined and you will learn who the characters are and why they are who they are (redundant?). As someone in my 20's it is also an eye opener of how different this country was just 50 years ago.

If you are trying to quit smoking though then stay away. Those people are like chimneys lol

My wife took full advantage of Netflix during her maternity leave, and plans to do so in October. They have a lot of good TV series on there to watch, including Mad Men, if I am not mistaken... The Office, How I Met Your Mother, and for the classics they have Wings, Cheers, Murder She Wrote. A bit of everything. They even have a lot of the "Masterpiece Classic" stuff from PBS, including Downton Abbey, if you are into that stuff.

Well........some was underwhelming, some was excellent. Pete is a petulant little prick, and the smarmy Eengleesh dude is headed for some big trouble as a stalker/lurker/toad with some young thang. Roger is priceless as an "I don't give a sheeeeeet about anything but me", type, and Christina Hendricks is still hawt with a capital RED. The women will get more prominence this season it looks like, and Dan is showing his age and over-indulgence. Peggy is going to again save their bacon along the way I feel.

I really liked the Kidney Beans pitch. That was priceless. "I wanna get da college kids lovin' kidney beans", sez the company exec. I've been right there with a ginormous fat 'n extremely ugly dude wanting to star in his own TV spots, absolutely certain his down-on-the-farm patois is going to reach out the the general population, enticing them to come and buy his product/service. Even when I get him into the edit suite to see how it turns out - extremely worse than you would believe - he still wants it to go on air. The editors are stuffing towels in their mouths to keep from laughing to see such a sight, and yers truly is dancing from one leg to another, hoping to graciously and politely convince the man who signs the checks, he'd be better off using a hawg for the visual and having one of the Jillion talented voices I have access to tap into here in Nashville for a voice-over. I'm proud to say I'm successful about half the time.

  • After 18 months, I forgot to watch Mad Men on DVR. The amount of commercials was ridiculous.

Pete is such a douche, but he is probably right in some ways. I wish they'd play up Cosgrove a little more. He's almost a cross of Don and Roger. He's more likeable and talented than Pete. Just not as conniving. I'd like to see him become Junior Partner and then compete with Pete for Senior Partner.

And how sexy was that song?

Cute performance from Megan for Don's surprise birthday party. Zou bisou bisou. She stole the show. Sorry I left out Roger and Jane's funny little exchange afterwards. Roger: Why don't you sing like that? Jane: Why don't you look like him?

  • Just got finished watching it. Good start to the season although I'm not liking the new Don Draper so far. Hopefully he'll get back to his old ways eventually.

The addition of them interviewing the African-American women should be a nice twist which may actually open up a whole new market for their firm. Although, it being the 60's, it might hurt them with other clients as well that aren't so "progressive."

Thought so too. Although, remember at the end of last season, when Draper put that article in the paper about the firms that represented tobacco companies and pretty much told the other ones to censored off? Maybe he's not going to care so much what other clients think.

Considering according to Pryce they're hanging on barely I highly doubt that would be a wise course of action.

  • Additionally, Megan doesn't really do anything for me personally. Now, the old Mrs. Draper - all day every day.
