Self inflicted gun shot. The guy must have really battled depression to go out so soon after retirement.

Such a shame. I have a friend who knew him at USC and she said he was a really nice guy. My heart goes out to his family.

This is just awful. Seems odd that he shot himself in the chest, not in the head. Makes you wonder if he wanted to preserve his brain in the same way that Dave Duerson did.

I think you are onto something. Head injuries are no joke and the resulting depression/headaches/nervous system breakdown are debilitating and can make a proud man lose his will to live. This is awful.
