  • If you're a Beatles fan go to see LOVE at The Mirage. The wife and I saw it last month and it was awesome.

  • I'm going next weekend so hopefully I'll have some info for you when we get back

  • Do be prepared to walk(alot)
Depending on where you stay, certain hotels either have their own tram service or have access to the monorail.

Several hotels have amusement rides but they can be pricey for what you actually get.

Plenty of good places to eat depending on your preferences.

The aqarium at Mandalay is nice but does cost as does the aquarium at Ceasar's.
Mirage has a tiger exhibit and MGM has the lion exhibit.

Free shows are the Pirate Show at Treasure Island and the Bellagio's fountain show. Mirage does their volcano show as well.

Paid shows that are good are Love and La Reve(@ the Wynn if they still do it). Shows come and go in Vegas all the time so check to see whats playing.

If you go to the clubs, depending on party size, relationship status, etc, there are plenty of tips on which clubs to go and how to get in.

As for gambling, depends on your budget on where to go. Last time my wife and I were there, we stayed at the Wynn. We signed up for their players card and gambled enough to get 2 tickets to La Reve, 2 buffets, and 1 rd of golf comped.

Vegas can be as cheap or expensive as you make it depending on what you and your traveling party like to do.

  • Sorry for another post but this one can be kind of important.

Unless things have changed since I was last there, the cab companies do not take credit/debit cards(only 1 company did and they had to be specifically requested).

If traveling with a special someone, limo service from the airport is reasonably priced and you get champagne svc and a rose for her.

  • Tryst at the Wynn is cool. Get a table outside.

Make sure you hit a pool on Saturday or Sunday, it's the craziest thing you've ever seen. Lots of bad decisions going on.

The Foundation Room at the top of Mandalay Bay is a really cool bar. It over looks the entire strip, a good place to stop in and have a drink at.

The Palms is a younger crowd, its a fun place to gamble cause it's a little rowdier than some of the others.

Where are you guys staying? A cheaper place (cheaper than Wynn, Venitian or Bellagio) to stay is Planet Hollywood. Has a good casino and great location on the strip. It's not a dump, and you can stay there relatively cheap.

It will be just my dad and I going. We are both bachelors. My pops actually goes to more clubs/bars than me these days. lol (He lives in New Orleans & I live in Tampa/Atlanta, but am in ATL atm. Hope to be moving back to Tampa asap though) Pops is kool. He likes to have fun & is a die-hard Nole. He is getting older and his health is declining. This might be my last chance to take a fun trip like this with him. I see Golf trips maybe in the future, but that is far from partying in Vegas.

I'm not sure yet, but I think the trip will be the 19th through the 23rd. Do any College Spring Breaks start around the the end of March?

I am staying at the Stratosphere or Harrah's on the strip. Good deals at both. I heard about the Palms and wanted to check out their late night club night life & Casino. I also heard that like the Palms, the Hard Rock Casino carries a younger crowd too.

Is the trip to see the Hoover Dam worth it?

I have been to many places, but this is my first time in Vegas. I'm pretty pumped. Thank you to everyone for all the ideas. Some great stuff in here.

  • Another tip is to sign up for the hotels' mailing lists. I get crazy deals on hotels from these places all the time. If you don't mind the emails it's well worth it.

I've been to Vegas 5 times, never made it to the Dam...too hungover to do much else than drink during the day.

I'd def recommend hitting a pool during the day, Hardrock, Tao, Mandalay are all very entertaining. The grand daddy of them all is on Sunday's at Hardrock, it's called Rehab. If you are staying thru sunday, you gotta make it to Rehab. Tao Beach is pretty awesome as well.

The Palms is a good place to hangout, not a great place to stay because it's off the strip. Same with the Hardrock. The hardrock casino is a little smaller than the Palms.

New York, New York hotel is also a great, cheap alternative for places to stay.

  • I think some of the Midwest and upper mid-west schools have spring breaks around that time. While not as popular as other spring break places, Vegas will get some spring break traffic.

Depending on your budget, getting bottle service in the clubs will get you an in most times, but can be pricey. If not doing bottle svc, try and find a couple good looking ladies to get in the clubs with. The clubs in Vegas are very keen to keeping a good ratio of good looking women to guys, so you have better chances of getting in faster with a couple of ladies with you rather than by yourself. NY/NY as a pretty good Irish Pub if you guys just want a good drinking atmosphere minus the dance vibe.

Josh nailed it for the pool selections and Rehab on Sunday's is crazy. So many good looking women in party mode. All 3, Mandalay, Rehab, and Tao are rated as best pool scenes in Vegas.

Aria is the newest hotel/casino and is worth checking out as I'm sure it's got some nice amenities to offer. It was still being built when I was last there and is center strip.

If you guys have never had In N Out burgers, there is one just past the NY/NY and Excalibur on Tropicana. Google it so you can learn their "hidden" menu.

  • I've been to vegas... a lot. I've been when I was young and relatively poor and I was last there in Dec and was gambling with several thousand. I was once flown there (private jet) by a friend I met in a Jacksonville poker room, who happened to have worked for Meyer Lansky. You learn something new every time you go, some way to do it better. Don't try to do it big, or perfect, just have fun.

March is dangerous if you hit March Madness time. Everything is more expensive and there's lines everywhere. You'll want to avoid that, unless you're planning on gambling 10K or more... or willing to put up with a bunch of crap just to be there for MM.

Decide what you're going to play ahead of time and learn everything you can about it. http://wizardofodds.com is a great resource for learning.

Blackjack - Learn perfect BJ strategy for whatever odds you expect to play. You should be able to find a chart with perfect strategy for a given set of BJ rules. It can make a big difference.

Craps - Craps is actually the easiest game to play if you know what you're doing. Play the pass line with full odds and as many come bets as you want, always with full odds. If you do that you're generally only giving the casino less than 1/2 of 1%. As in, if you bet $100, it's costing you 50 cents (theoretically).

The trick is to stick to what you know, don't play any games that you haven't already learned about. And, don't vary from what you know to be the best strategies in those games. Don't place prop bets (e.g. perfect pairs in BJ, hardways in Craps).

If you're an average looking guy, you should be able to get into any club you want if you show up right after they open and tip the doorman $50 per guy. When I couldn't afford bottle service, I did that all the time. I was never refused in Vegas. Money talks.

Pools during the day are great. Get a cabana if you can afford it.

If you're going big, XS (Wynn) and Marquee (Cosmo) are the best clubs.

If you're going to see a show, Le Reve at the Wynn, VIP seats is the best way to go. You get big comfortable seats and a bottle of champagne.

If you're going to gamble much, get a players card and make sure they track all your play. It's the only way to get free stuff.

If you're into strip clubs, Spearmint Rhino is the classiest and has the hottest girls. I've been told Olympic Garden is the one with the most relaxed rules, tho, I've never been so I can't confirm.

I've been to Vegas over 20 times. Lots of good advice in here for pool parties now encore beach is really good on Sunday's. Rehab has kind of been taken over by a bunch of jersery shore wannabes. Wet Repbulic at MGM on Saturday is my favorite pool party. Marque at the cosmopoiltian is probably the hottest club in Vegas and XS is the second. Depending on how big your group is bottle service is the way to go at the clubs. You get your own private table dont have to wait in line and pour your drinks however you want. I saw love a couple months ago I didn't personally enjoy it much not the biggest Beatles fan. I really want to see O I heard that is the best cirq show. I would pick one chain of casinos either harrahs or MGM ad gamble ad stay at that brand. You build up your comps alot faster that way. I personally like MGM hotels better.
