Grade your teams first round

    I am excited about mark barron. and i wanted them to trade down i thought they could have traded down to buffalo and got a litle more out of it but im not behind the scenes so i dont know what happened. I thought the Trade up with denver was fantastic. We got to jump into the first round and all we gave up was 25 spots in the 4th. yup sold. i really like doug martin. he is the complete back the bucs have been looking for.

    Would have been an a plus if we cold have gone down to 10 and gotten a third round or a 2nd round.

    Over the last few weeks the feeling around town was that Barron would be the selection at 14, then word got out that he would be gone by the time the Dallas was on the clock. When St. Louis shopped their 6th pick Jerry and Co. jumped all over it to get Claiborne. Would've loved to have the 2nd round pick but I think Claiborne was worth losing it.

    Dominik has proven to be a consistant failure on draft day(s).

    He didn't get enough for trading down and then reached with the Barron pick. I'm going to bet he was caught with his pants down when the Cowboys traded up and picked Claiborne.

    That said, I do think Barron and Martin will be solid contributors this season. But the Bucs are going to have serious issues at corner this year and next.

    Drafted David Wilson to be the replacement for Brandon Jacobs??? We needed a short yardage, physical back.......not a scatback like we already have in Ahmad Bradshaw. Since the Bucs traded up to get Martin and that was the RB the Giants were looking to get, we should have drafted an OLineman instead of a 3rd down RB who can't run through the tackles.

    I think the bucs will address that in the third round. Pray that Jayron Hosley is stll there the man is a ball hawk. 12 career interceptions 9 his sophmore year and then teams stopped throwing at him.

    You don't take a censored SAFETY in the Top 10, unless he's the next Ed Reed. And Barron is not an Ed Reed. He's basically another linebacker in Alabama's scheme, and he looks awkward and lacks recovery speed in passing situations. I would not be shocked to see him add bulk on and become a linebacker, because that's his strength, playing down in the box.

    ON TOP OF THAT. You only get an extra 4th round pick out of Jacksonville to move DOWN?? WTF!? You could have got so much more. Dumb ass Buccaneers.

  • I do like the RB out of Boise State though, and the Giants would have taken him at 32 if we didn't move up right above them.

    Wilson is an excellent back and your team is lucky to have him. You can pick up brushing short yardage guys a dime a dozen. Guys with Wilson's speed are more expensive. Only back that was available that was better is Lamar miller, IMO.

    Agree 100%. Exactly the conversation at my house. Bucks got caught trying to look smart, missed their guy, reached on a safety, and got little in return. F.

    joke of a statement, im going to take a guess and say the bucs coaches know more about evaluating talent than you do. didnt the chiefs take eric berry at 5 two years ago, laron landry was the 6th or 7th pick....yeah i think you can take a safety in the top 10. he is a safety that can hit and come down and support the run. the bucs D is soft and we were last in run D last year. he also lacks recovery speed but has led the SEC in INT's. he looks awkward, i dont care how he looks as long as he does the job. they thought about taking barron at 5 which means they werent taking claiborne even if he was there, obviously they dont like him as much as barron. considering that ron cooper is the bucs DB coach, i think they might have some better knowledge on claiborne than about every other team in the NFL. also how the hell can you complain about the 4th round pick when that pick allowed us to move up twice and grab 2 more starters for this team. that was a great 3 picks by the bucs and a very good day for mark dominik

    wilson was excellent running behind 4 senior offensive lineman at VT. doug martin was the 2nd best RB in the draft. lamar miller is still on the board after 3 rounds. 7 RB's have been taken. yep, thats how good miller is.
