Dowlar's WS trying to pull a fast one on Tigers

  • Cabrera comes into the batter's box steps out and tells the ump the box was too short. Turns out he was right and the groundscrew had to come out in middle of game and re-draw the box.

Given the Tigers potent offense, Id have to imagine this wasn't a coincidence.

Also never seen something like that before

  • You're supposed to win them.

  • We had beaten the Sox like 6 in a row and 13 of last 18 before that....cant win em all

Also worried about today, have to give with the emergency starter in Adam Wilk since Fister is on dl. White Sox are actually the favorites in vegas for todays game

Although we have beaten Floyd his last 4 starts, so hopefully the offense gets going.

  • Reason we won the series is because we were able to keep Cabrera and Fielder in check.

  • Cabrera had a bad series....Fielder was 4-12.

A couple reasons you won the series beside that - 1. Fister was hurt so you got to see a guy make his first big league start instead of a guy with a sub 3 era. 2. Fielder than removes said player making his first start from game by hitting him with a foul ball 3. You didnt have to see Verlander

Also I cant believe the game we won, we had Inge playing DH and Laird hit a HR and a 2b. Such an odd game

Its alright, we will get you all next time

  • Yeah, the White Sox suck. The only reason Detroit didn't win all 18 games this weekend is because they shot themselves in the foot.

    blah

Cooper had the pitchers on a good plan against the middle of the order and they executed. That's pretty much all there is to it. I don't think they will win the season series, no way. Tigers have too many horses for that. Chicago was just the better team this weekend. And next time, they probably won't be.

Well Chicago was obviously the better team this series, which is why they won 2/3

But the two games the white sox won they had the pitching advantage, game 1 it was their #2 starter v Tigers #3. Game 2 was WS #3 v. Tigers emergency fill in for their #2 (a AAA guy) and then the Tigers won the game where it was #4 v. #4. You didn't have to face Cy Young/MVP winner or the guy who had a sub 3 era last year.

I think Chicago will probably finish 2nd in Central this year, but this series doesn't change my opinion about the Tigers or the White Sox. Miguel won't play this bad again, Fister will be pitching instead of Wilk (at least hopefully) for most the rest of the season. Although I do hope we dump Schlereth pretty soon, he gives up runs every time he pitches, maybe he should have played football like his dad.

  • Never said that it should change your opinion.

I bet Miguel Cabrera has as bad of a stretch as he did this weekend a couple of times this year. It's baseball. Too many games not too.

Verlander throwing 130 pitches in April, though, that's insane. Hope he stays healthy because he is fun to watch. He's a freak.

He threw over 100 pitches every start last year. He is a work horse, was throwing in the 100s in the 9th. Hes got flawless mechanics, so injury (knock on wood) doesn't seem like its going to be an issue with him.

And Miguel Cabrera, they said Sundays game was his first 0-5 game in over a year (didnt do that bad in a single game last year). In fact last year he the most games in a row he went without a hit was 3 and he had 3 walks in those 3 games. In fact he only went back to back game without a hit 4 other times. So I dont think you are going to see him go 3 games without a hit and only one walk a couple times this year, in fact you might not even see it again.

  • To me, 100 pitches and 130 pitches on April 16 is a little different. But he's a different dude.

    You'll definitely see it again.

  • Last year JV threw 120 in his 3rd start of season on april 11 and threw 127 on may 2nd

He does this all the time

And you could be right on Miggy, but you didnt see it AT ALL last year, so if history proves anything, its that its going to be unlikely

    I know, I know.

I would just be scared to death as a manager to do that to the guy I am counting on in the playoffs.

He's obviously not normal. And really fun to watch dominate people.
