I'm out. Too rich for my blood.

I idolized, rather... worshiped 'Foppa' aka Peter Forsberg. Had to have the same equipment as him, same stick, tape my stick the same, even wore No. 21 all the way through Mites, Bantams, and Midgets. My dad got me tickets to the Avalanche/Capitals game, right behind the Avalanche bench, sitting right beside Patrick Roy's family (coincidence) when Roy broke the all times win record against the Capitals in OT for win No.448. Forsberg scored the game winner in overtime. Still remember that game vividly yearssssssssss later.
Here's a picture of young Bushido when I played for the Jr Capitals select team with our coach Kevin Kaminski, who used to be an NHL player. He was a scrappy two-way player, more of an enforcer. He came close to fighting the other teams coaches a few times when it was clear that he had his players doing cheap shit. The Junior Flyers team was always a bunch of , a lot of bad blood, just like in the NHL...stranger

Man. That's pretty epic. One of my great regrets from my childhood is that I lived too far south to ever have a chance to play hockey. Granted, my inherent lack of athleticism also eliminated that chance, but I didn't know it then.
My family is from Pittsburgh/the majority of them are still there, so I got Pittsburgh sports, including the Pirates, branded into me at an early age.
When the Tallahassee Tiger Sharks started playing in 1994, I was hooked. I made my parents drag me to every game I could. Lots of bad blood for the South Carolina Stingrays, man.
Looking back, it's totally bizarre that Tallahassee ever had a minor league hockey team, but it was really great. If we ever got a team again, I'd either beg the Democrat to let me cover them (I can't imagine anyone else would want to) or be a season ticket holder. Or both.
I actually think it'd be really cool to write a book about the Tiger Sharks and all their foibles. Pretty sure that I'd be one of about eight people who'd want to read it, though.
coming in with a stealth bid of $6.83
I never knew Tallahassee had a minor league hockey team. The only sign of hockey life that I ever saw in Tallahassee was of some female posing in a Seminoles hockey sweater. Apparently there was some club team at Florida State for ice hockey years ago? Tiger Sharks is a pretty bad ass name for a hockey team too. I imagine if they were still around today, that their sweaters would be pretty legit with the design possibilities.
I miss playing ice hockey competitively. The road games all the way in Canada were the best. I plan on moving to Toronto one day. I absolutely love that city, and Vancouver is a close second.
The Columbus Blue Jackets sent center Jeff Carter to the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday for defenseman Jack Johnson and a conditional first-round pick in the 2012 draft.
If Kings miss playoffs this year, the pick goes to 2013. If Kings make the playoffs this year, the Jackets can choose to make the pick for either the 2012 or 2013 draft.
Carter will be reunited with ex-Philadelphia teammate Mike Richards in Los Angeles. The Flyers traded Carter to Columbus and Richards to Los Angeles in June ahead of the NHL draft.
Carter is in the first year of an 11-year, $58-million contract. His no-trade clause does not kick in until July.
The center was shocked when he found out about being traded to Columbus and never lived up to the expectations the Blue Jackets had for him. Carter has 15 goals and 25 points through 39 games and the Jackets have the worst record in the NHL.
Not sure what the Kings are doing ... best I can tell the Blue Jackets made out like bandits. Jack Johnson and a first round pick for a malcontent like Carter looks like a steal to me.
If that's what they got for Carter, I can only imagine what they're holding out for Nash.
Also, attached is an old picture of Mark Richards, the Tiger Sharks' goalie and my favorite player back then. Good times.
I hope my Bolts can get it together and win the Southeast. We are hanging around 5-7pts back. That is within striking distance if we get hot. Plenty of Hockey left. That said, it has been disappointing considering we were damn close to the Stanley Cup again last year.
GO NOLES! / SCALP EM!
Downie has been tearing it up since coming over from TB. Avs out there kicking Detroit's ass on the ice and the scoreboard!
Water is just beer that hasn't reached its full potential.
Anyone see Evgeni Malkin's end-to-end goal today? That dude is unbelievable.
Evgeni Malkin's 2nd goal of the game, Pens won the game 8-1. Malkin finished the game with a Hat Trick, 1 Assist, and +/- 3. Do you think this is the "Goal Of The Year"?
