I am looking at buying a tablet. I am not sure if I should go with the Ipad or the Kindle Fire. I don't have any other Apple products besides a 7 year old Ipod, as I have never really been into the "apple craze" like everyone else. What can you tell me about each product to help me make my decision (looking for more than name recognition).
Do you prefer a larger tablet, or smaller one? Is 16 GB enough for recreational use? How do the apps compare? Usability etc.?
I was never an apple fan until my daughters bought me an ipad2 for my lengthy hospital stay. I am now an apple advocate. I don't know much about the other selections, but can tell you the newer apple products are great. A family member has the latest generation apple ipad and said she loves it. I would go with at least 32 gig or even more if you want to store and watch movies etc.

Not much difference between the two honestly. Specs are pretty much the same, as well as the apps. 16gb is fine for me, movies stream perfectly on both. Played around with the mini and just wasnt a fan of the size, though my brother has one and swears by it. I have both in my house but being that you dont use any other apple products Id opt for the Fire HD 8.9. Its $100 bucks cheaper for basically the same performance
Good advice Lincoln.
I did some research recently, as I was looking to buy a unit for my brother, who is a Troglodyte from the Stone Age with regards anything electronic. One thing I kept noticing, was apparently Apple products are much less likely to succumb to computer viruses and identify theft. That tipped the balance for me.
Worst gift I ever gave. He calls me about eleventeen times a day, asking: "How do I ..................... "
Talk about the blind leading the blind............smh
It isn't a craze.
It is a proven, long term run of superior products that last and work with no problems.
I still have a laptop I bought in 2004, it works great, and the damn thing won't die.
I have owned several Windows based laptops in the meantime.
You will never regret buying the Apple product.
Go back to bed. Your alarm hasn't gone off yet, and your coffee pot is broke.
Wide awake and working on a couple real estate pieces. I'm meeting with my former Title reps yo get this show on the road.
Sleep is for Italians, or the weak. Same thing.
Fake Estate more like. All that crap's gonna fall into the ocean out there soon anyway. Greeks can't get no sleep from worrying about why their goats all ran away.
That's definitely not the reason as we know the goats ran away because they saw an Italian regiment approaching without women.
Latest rumor has the country splitting in two along the Mississippi river, turning Tennessee into waterfront real estate turning all landowner there into multi millionaires, and all new fancy restaurants opened up.
It's the modern version of the Beverly Hillbillies.
Nash: [looking over buffet during Claire's birthday party] What is all this stuff?
Waiter: Hors d'oeuvres, caviar, calamari.
Nash: What? Speak American!
If you want the kindle for reading, just download the free kindle app
As a computer, and since you don't really use Apple product I would definitely go with the Kindle fire since the usability is much easier and you have much more freedom with what you can put and play in it as well as transfer rights to the things you have on there... If you want a really good review on each, I highly recommend checking out CNET, http://reviews.cnet.com/. They have excellent reviews on top of the line product and they are one of the more accurate reviewers in the tech world, I always go to them for second opinion/reviews.

I'm back in the market for a tablet and was looking at this a minute ago. I will be using this for work some out in the field. Can you import PDFs and make written notes on them, save them and import them back to a desktop PC?
Also, do you need a data plan for the GPS ONLY to function (for Google Earth etc.)?
Finally. what are data plan prices per month? THX
I'm sold on MAC products. Superior quality in every way to windows based platforms.

Has anyone tried the Microsoft Surface tablet. The commercials make me want one but I haven't played with one yet lol.
I got my answers to all of these questions, btw. I talked with a Verizon representative on Friday.
