What's dumb? Your lack of a basic understanding of our founding principles or Dr. Klecks findings once he let the numbers speak for themselves?
That you actually believe giving everyone a gun is a good idea. More bullets flying is not the answer.
When one does not have a counter point they either:
Call your argument dumb, irrational or
Laugh it off.
Yeah, b/c "gun free zones" have been such a splendiferous success.
30 people a day are killed by guns in the U.S. That's the only argument I need.
See my previous post about Japan.
What about Japan? Fortunately I don't live there.
Japan does not have a God given constitutionally protected right to own firearms. We do.
Gun laws do not a thing to stop crimes like these nor robberies nor other crimes of violence. They only set penalties for after the fact. After the fact does me no good. Nor does the prospect of disarming myself so AT BEST some cops can run around looking important after I have been victimized and/or the same government that stripped me of a basic right becoming the victimizer at worst.
Tonight I shall sup w/ my baby boy, my wife and other family in a restaurant while concealed and unnoticed sits either my 1911 or my glock 35 (depending on whether I feel like carrying on my person or utilizing the diaper bag). No one will be bothered but rest assured I would w/o hesitation and w/o compunction avail myself of said arms if need arises. The cops can come later, as usual.
We wrote Japan's constitution after WWII fyi. God didn't write our constitution, "he" had nothing to do with it.
Should pot be illegal? People use it anyway, so why bother. Do you see how hypocritical that argument is.
Guns have two purposes: Kill or practice killing.
Or home protection, hunting, scratching your anus in those hard to reach corners, decorating a wall, you know... the basics
The true problem is the stupidity of people in this country
I have 32 firearms ( or around that number, haven't counted in a long time ) most were passed down, some are for show only, and I haven't shot one of them in months and years not including a range
Guns are only dangerous in the wrong hands and sadly there are far too many sick idiots in this world with the intelligence of a wet fart

Or home protection: Killing an intruder
Hunting: Killing an animal
Scratching your anus in those hard to reach corners: If you do that you're a braver man than I.
Blaming guns is a cop out, this terrible tragedy is a people problem
Just like senseless wars and on the list goes, the world would not be a better place without guns
People would just find another way to kill, its human nature to kill and that isn't going to change
As much as it pains me (and you know it does), I agree.
We should get rid of planes imo, cause Al Queda used them to kill thousands
The world would be a better place if we just swam to England from now on
And for the record Im as disgusted as anybody by this story
But this is what we get for glorifying war and death, from movies... to college students dancing in the streets to the murder of Bin Laden and on and on I could go
This world is just a terrible place at the end of the day, and people are to blame... not the tools that people created to eat food back in the day in order to survive
We increased security when that happened. You have to take off your shoes because somebody tried to use them to blow up a plane.

And killing an intruder to protect yourself and your family is wrong?? What should I do, offer him a beer?
"Don't mistake lack of talent for genius." Type O Negative
Gun deaths in 1 year:
Japan - 2
Finland - 1
Australia - 35
England and Wales - 39
Spain - 60
Germany - 194
Canada - 200
USA - 9,484.
America is by far the dumbest country out of all of those, we watch the most garbage on television for sure and easily dominate all of them when it comes to a love affair with violence
I was lolzin my nuts off today when fox news was covering this tragedy and then would break to commercials for Jack Reacher, the new Bin Laden movie and highlights for the DVD TDKR with shots of Bane terrorizing Gotham City
This country is stupid by in large, that is what this comes down to
This is a terrible, disgusting and disheartening event. God rest those innocent children's souls. I'm an AP for a K-8 school in the panhandle and we do code black drills 3x a year. My wife and I both have our CCL and I don't even go to Walmart without mine anymore. We have 2 SROs to cover 3 schools and it's scary what could happen. I'm pro gun 110% and I wish there was a certification, training, or statue that would allow an administrator to carry on campus.
Not really a valid comparison statistically, per capita would be more valid. Finland for example has only 5.5M ppl vs 315M for the US. Murder rate overall would be an even better comparison since you can't say how many of the gun deaths wouldn't have just happened by another means (knife, baseball bat, etc).
4 days ago, a father is looking frantically around a firehouse about a mile from this school, where all the kids were evacuated too....frantically looking, because if he can't find his child, then the worst possible outcome has happened.
Meanwhile back on the internet on message boards everywhere, people are having a "Gun Control" debate, and expressng their political viewpoint.
Yeah...this country is effed up.
Look, what you posted is a horrific proposition, one no parent should ever experience. I get that. However the thought of these things that are our so-called leaders utilizing this tragedy as an opportunity to force through gun control measures that will do nothing more than disarm people who abide by the law in the first place is way more "effed up" than people being concerned about that reality.
Study some history. Go and read about what happens EACH AND EVERY TIME a government disarms it's population. Guaranteed what you will find is far and away worse than a school house massacre, and that's saying something. Instead of 20 kids think millions. Instead of a half dozen or so teachers think millions.
William Ayers, the POS that FSU allowed to come and speak on campus (which gave me cause to call the alumni assoc. the next day and drop out) is a radical marxist. And a long time close friend of obama. Even gave obama his start in politics in his living room. And many, if not all, of obama's policies are fully endorsed by this communist POS. He himself stated that "25 million Americans" that don't buy into their utopic vision will need to be eliminated. Let that soak in, then see how they are using this tragedy to capitalize, you know don't let "a good crisis go to waste", their chance to "do something" about the American people's basic right to defend themselves. That is far more "effed up" and terrifying than some ill-intention spawn of leftist policies running around shooting up helpless victims in a "gun free zone" (which BTW is yet another stunning success of the liberal left).
I thought about things after getting into a few discussions about it, and you're right. It's not the time, for either side of the issue, to be talking about it. Wait a bit, mourn for those that were lost and grieve with those who lost them...
