Not sure about an order, and this is all off the top of my head and I'm sure I'll miss someone awesome, but:
Freddie Mercury
Robert Plant
Cedric Bixler-Zavala (pre-2011)
Thom Yorke
Dave Grohl (not a big Foos fan, but dammit I respect this man, from Nirvana - who I truly believe are the most overrated band of all time - to Queens of the Stone Age, etc.)
Don't get it twisted though, AIC is one of my favorite bands ever, don't think I'd put Layne Staley (RIP) on this list though.

C'mon OCHO, listen to AIC's "love hate love", "don't follow" and "man in the box". To be able to go from a low register to a high register and yarl while at full octave is something i've heard no vocalist do. Stapp, Vetter and Cornell can't do this. Much agreed, RIP Layne. Also I agree on your Grohl thoughts. Probably the best multi-talented band member. Did you know he was the devil in Tenacious D?

I like him. I actually think he sounds a lot like Staley at times, maybe that's just me though.

I don't know if I could narrow it down right now. Hard to argue with most of the names ITT.
A couple of ones to come to mind that haven't been brought up:
Maynard (never mind I see Veritas is on it)
Eric Burdon (a personal favorite, I don't think he gets enough recognition)
Chad Allan

I do like Tool and APC, but I really don't find Maynard's vocals all that special. His songwriting, on the other hand...
