  • ill have to admit IM not the most knowledgeable guy when it comes to football recruiting or football itself especially when it comes to the oline. Track is what i was recruited for so i don't know how it works. But he is 6'4"305 and the 3rd best guard prospect in Florida with fsu ties and wants to cone here. What is fsu's interest level with him and why hasn't he received an offer? Especially considering he would probably be restarted and through mechanics that he needs to learn would be picked up in that year? Is he just not that good? Considering our weakness at the line i hope we don't let an easy pickup go to clesmon.

  • Isn't he one of the best track prospects in the state too?

    fsukum

  • Yeh that is how i ran across him. Don't really care about field events and the field trainin does not translate well for football so even if he doesn't field the track team he would b a good pickup in my opinion.

  • He is very talented and is being looked at to play center.

He does have a commitable offer and although he is a Seminole fan, he is trying not to let his fanhood play a role in his decision. He does like clemson a lot. That said, I expect him to camp at FSU this summer and commit at that time.

I'll catch up with him later this week.

If that happens, our line class will be setting up nicely.

  • His commitment would be an excellent addition imo. He's also another Trickett advocate.

  • Really hope we land this kid.

  • I've only seen two 5 sec clips of him at a camp. With his body type, I wonder if he can reach block playside DT's in a zone scheme(Krug had trouble with this, which is why he moved back to OG against OU).

I think Klepal is a kid that could come in and do well at OC, but he also has the versatility to play all along the line.

Lets see how Droogsma performs at our camp. If they allow him to commit at that point, you know the coaches like him with all the talented OL interested in us.

What we need is a center who can snap the ball and instantly disappear and rematerialize 4 feet to the left or right. Our zone blocking scheme demands a player have this ability.

Droogsma's HUDL highlights are private to most. I texted him to see if his coach will make them public so I can put them on the site. He told me that if the coach won't do it, he'll get me some footage to share.

  • Austin just forwarded me the public link.

Let me know if this works for you guys. He is number 60 and playing left guard in most clips.

  • Just my opinion, but he looks too tall to play center, and when he pass blocks he looks stiff. Also, he concentrates on his primary block very well, but doesn't look to releasing from that block and seeking another. After the play continues downfield he doesn't sprint after the play as some of the other OL do, but kind of jogs after the play. The one time it showed him pulling to block near the goal line he looked quick and sustained his block. When playing defense he also showed good quickness coming off the ball and used his hands well to dislodge blockers.

I like his size and the fact that he played both ways; with that in mind he could be a very teachable young man and definitely someone we could use (and keep away from Clemson). Just think with our weight program and good coaching what he could become!

  • Gar, I was mostly impressed by what I saw from him defensively. Shows me that he has the initial quickness to get to where he is needed in our zone scheme. And as you noted, he looked good pulling. Trickett will coach the "tallness" out of him which is attributed to his team running the spread and playing out of a two point stance seemingly on every down.
