Would these "Lost Decade" players start for this years team?

  • Bunkley would would start on most teams today he was a freak in college most games being doubled he was still disruptive.

  • I always cringe when people say Rix could have been better than he was. No way in hell.

  • our coaches were terrible. none of those players really developed during their time at FSU. I don't think all of them were mis-evaluations...a lot were recruited by other top programs, too. Booker would've been taught to dance a lot less. I would've loved to see Rix under Jimbo...if he could turn the light switch on, CR had all the tools.

Carr would've been a MONSTER in the red zone...much more than he was used by JB.

  • Chris Rix didn't play QB his senior year of High School, and after we lost Jarred Jones to being an idiot and Fabian Walker to the clearinghouse, Richt begged Bowden to let him bring in JUCO, knowing what he had in Rix... Chris didn't have the head to be a college QB.

A lot of that development stuff is crap. Some of it is legit, but much of it is B.S. Nicholson was not fast. Pat Watkins didn't have a nose for the football. Tony Carter was a good, tough player, but didn't have that extra something to be special. Lorenzo Booker was a dancer who could be brought down by a stray piece of grass, and no coach in the NFL has fixed that.

    fsufelip

  • I can't believe some people are saying that Buster Davis and A.J. Nicholson wouldn't start on this team...

I also think Lorenzo Booker would start, Jimbo would utilize his abilites something Jeff didn't do.

Ernie Sims should be added to the list as well...

  • Why are we glorifying people who weren't that good? Lorenzo Booker was just not good. He would definitely not start for a coach that loves tough players, and particularly hard-running backs.

the players i listed were considered to be our better plays during these years.

I left off Sims, Timmons, Barron, Ray Willis, Boldin because they would have been sure starters.

  • The only question I would have is anyone saying that Cro Thorpe would not start for this team............pre broken leg, I think he would.

Usually I agree with your analysis, but Book has found a place as a third down back in the NFL. He was actually very talented. He would have been better with better offensive coaching, IMO.

  • Simply reading the posts, some people are severely underrating Bryant McFadden. He was good.

Completely agree. As previously stated, no one threw his way at all so he went largely unnoticed. He didn't go unnoticed to other offenses, though. I'd say that he was the best DB when I was there working with the defense. I would say Cromartie but he was just the best athlete since he didn't play much.

I would argue with a good OL, Booker would have killed! He was a talent that didn't have a supporting cast to back him up. Dude was a lot better than what was shown at FSU

  • It's mindboggling to me that people don't think Bryant McFadden would start over Greg Reid. Greg is a playmaker. He's a fantastic punt returner and great with the ball in space, but his skills are more suited for offense. McFadden was a damn good corner.

Lorenzo Booker averages less than 10 yards from scrimmage, per game for his career.

If they had changed the question to ask about Leon Washington, then absolutely he would have started. The big crime was us splitting carries between the two when Leon was head and shoulders better.
