"It's not the SEC conference vs. the ACC conference," "It's Florida State vs. Auburn." --Lamarcus Joyner
Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or it may last a year. But eventually, it will subside. If i quit, however it will last forever.
What do we do about it? Fire Trickett? Yes. Or force him to retire. His choice. we could give him an admin role as well. I am advocating a new ol coach to replace Trickett. how that comes into being is unimportant. He cannot get enough quality jimmies and joes to come play for HIM. It is that simple. Hire Jeff Grimes, the former ol coach at Auburn. He can get kids to come play for him. If the situation was reversed and the ol recruiting was lights out on the ol and was this poor on the dl (as compared to the rest of the team) both Haggins and Eliot would have been fired by now.
This is not an issue of Trickett's recruiting. This is an issue of kids willing to come play for HIM.
Coley can recruit an ol but in the end they have to play for Trickett.
Trickett is among the highest paid ol coaches in the country so we have the money.
as to this OL class, yes it has good players but is thin. We may get a couple of decent guys and still be 2 short.
Johnson is a plan b. If UF has to go to plan c (for them) then they get Johnson. I doubt they will need to go to their plan c.
If we had a different OL coach we would not need someone like Johnson either. Is he OK? sure, ok. Is Ok going to make this great ol in 2015-2016? No, it will be OK.
IMO Hoefield is also in the OK category. He did not have one SEc offer when he committed.
That matters because Trickett's "Diamonds in the rough" more often than not suck. When we are fighting no name schools for ol recruits they typically end up being, shall we say, not very good.
I am not saying Hoefield will suck but a Trickett eval in and of itself has proven not to mean much.

you asked if we should fire Trickett? I said he should no longer be Ol coach. You asked me why I reached that conclusion and I told you that as well.
Your reaction makes it clear you do not have good points to refute my conclusions.
A better course of action for you is to stop posting on the topic.
Lastly, I do not think Trickett will still be here (as ol coach) in 2 years whether Jimbo is still here or not.
