Will we have any All-Americans on our team this year?

  • For the sake of discussion, will we have any first team AA's or consensus AA's on our football team this year?

  • Jenkins, Hopkins.

  • Thoughts on Joyner's chances?

    mjohnson2484

  • Too hard to say because All-Americans are based purely on popularity and maybe a little statistics mixed in. I think Hopkins Bjoern and Jenkins have the best chance to put up big numbers. Reid is always a possibility as a return man, and Rhodes as a CB. At the end of the day, I think the U/O is 1.5, 3 or more and it means we probably had a terrific year.

  • How about all ACC players?

DT-could have potenitally 4 but they will never give one team that many, but ED, Amp, Timmy and DMac will all most likely merrit selection.

DE-Jenkins and Werner for sure, but Tank should get an honorable mention nod.

LB-I think Telvin will for sure and Jones easily has the ability, but he needs to be more physical and the position change should help.

    CB-Reid and Rhodes

S-Joyner for sure and Brooks could make a team.

QB-EJ needs to make a team if we have a great year.

RB-probably not since we do it by commitee, maybe Lonnie for his all around play.

TE-not yet, but I expect them to be much better.

WR-You could make cases for Rodney, Willie, Rashad, Christian(sleeper alert) or even Benjamin.

OL-I could see Cam and Stork pushing, but the big uglies is usually about rep and less about on field performance.

  • I think G. Reid will have an record season as PR but there will be some other good returners out there. He will have many opportunities with the way our Defense plays. X. Rhodes could become a shutdown guy but he doesn't get many opportunities for INT's, but if he become a TO machine then he can be up for the Thorpe award.

Jenkins will wreck havoc for another season and should get back in the double digit sack #'s, Werner will be great but won't have the high sack numbers as he contains the edge well. Tim Jernigan is a guy who could make it, if he has a glen dorsey type year.

Rashad Greene can make it, he is clutch and a touchdown machine. Christian Green should be at KR he has blazers, could shoot seems and brake tackles well, but he could have a break out year with Rashad Greene.

Good call on Christian Green. I think he will be our biggest breakout player this year. Remember, he was a QB in highschool so he's still learning the position. 80 days until kickoff!!!!

Tough to see Telvin make any list unless he can 100% lock down the starting job. Would be surprised if any OL made anything as well.

  • the only person with a chance at all-american on offense is EJ. he'll need a 3500+ yard, 30+ td/single digit int season. he'll also need to show out in our biggest games and lead us to a conference championship and big time bowl game/mnc game.

don't see any wrs or rbs making it due to how we will spread the ball around. they simply won't have the stats.

defensively, seems that Jenkins has the best shot due to ability and already having his name out there. he'll need double digit sacks and a bunch of tfl's though. anyone else on defense will need monster stats.

Hopkins has a very good shot. stay consistent and accurate, and hit some game winners.

Christian Green is definitely one of my favorites on the team, felt bad he couldn't get in the end zone last season but hopefully he gets the ball more this season.

I forgot to mention LaMarcus Joyner, the kid is a ball hawk and should have a great season on defense.

  • Whole lotta homer ITT

  • there will be about 23 All Americans at least! stache but seriously, if i had to guess:

Jenkins, Rhodes, and Hopkins will be consensus. Guys like Jones, Jernigan, and Joyner will be 2nd team. Reid may get in as a return man.

Our WR corps is too loaded to have a single All American group there. Tentively the only player on offense i can see getting All American love is EJ. Maybe Freeman as well if our OL is adequate this year

I disagree, I think Nick O'Leary could be an All American. I saw EJ target him a lot and a TE doesn't need to put up gaudy numbers to be an AA.

    TNoles813

  • Nicks gonna need 500-600 yards at least and several tds to be considered. Especially with guys like Eiffert at notre dame reeling in 900 yard seasons.

O'Leary makes first team acc and I'll be ecstatic. Just don't see him putting up the stats required for all-american.

"Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."

  • I guess most are underestimating Rashad Greene talents, he had 6-7 tds right while being injured half of the season as a true freshman.

    WartimesLegend

  • Offense-
E.J. could but probably wont. that spot is Barkley's to lose.

Rashad Greene and Christian Green are both talented enough to be AA but I dont with the way that we spread the ball around they might not get the number. I expect huge things from those 2 this year though.

    Defense-

    1st Team- Jenkins, Jones, Rhodes
    2nd Team- Werner, Joyner
3rd Team- Dawkins (or Jernigan), Reid

I think that Werner and Joyner should be 1st team but I think they'll get 2nd team.

    SP Teams-

    1st Team- Hopkins, Reid

Rest assured... THE WAR DANCE IS COMING!!!!

    jaxprepsports

  • If we do, they will come from the defensive side.

I think the obvious favorites have already been listed

    Brandon Jenkins
    Bjoern Werner
