The issue is you have incomplete information. Why did EJ throw so much? What was Jimbo really looking at? [I guarantee you it wasn't EJ the offensive MVP for the spring]. Was Benjamin a freshman running correct routes? Did the defense basically know what the offense was going to do? Was EJ going through his progressions? [seemed to be doing that to me, but hard to know if you weren't standing out there observing] When Jimbo says one thing and posters another, then I tend to give the coach the benefit of the doubt. When people based on limited information make blanket statements then I tend to disregard.

EJ
A) He’s average if he can’t use his legs.
B) He’s very good if he can use legs.
C) He’s exceptionally good if he can use his legs and make the appropriate checks/read the middle third a majority of the time
D)He’s elite if he can use his legs, make the appropriate checks/read the middle third and get over his nerves consistently.Swiped from another site, and I couldn't have said it better. He's a much different player when he HAS to stay int he pocket+ the defense can just pin back their ears EVERY play becuase they know he will not run.

He is a redshirt senior, he is overrated. The kid has been making the same mistakes every year if it wasnt for this kids legs he would be our 3rd team QB at best. His decision making and him trying to diagnose a defense is down right awful. Thats not to mention he is a turnover machine.

I'm just going to put this here rather than start a new thread, but it could go in about a dozen different active threads right now...
I hate to say it, but PBen is right. This is why I had the game on, but it was in the background and I was working on other things around the house...also why I didn't bother to turn the computer on after we were replaced with lacrosse (but really, lacrosse??!?). It is also why I am waiting until fall Saturdays to make any conclusions about this team or individual players.
A spring scrimmage is a tool for coaches, somewhat of a science lab. Putting it on tv doesn't change anything. You all know starters are split up. I know it's all we have right now, but keep it in perspective.
I've seen EJ have magical moments in live game experience, and I've seen him fall short. I'm going to hope something comes together for his senior season and we get more of the magic, but if not, I will trust Jimbo and Coley come up with the best game plans to use what they've got. And they've got a lot.

Why does Coker look better than EJ?
