Why does Coker look better than EJ?

  • Also, the "cliff jumper" accusations are tired. Take that ish back to WC.

  • Yes. I think he has progressed from last spring...last time we saw a televised version of him versus a slightly weaker FSU defense.

I don't think people comprehend just how good this defense is. It will be the best D he faces until a bowl game.

  • Coker also went up against non-starters. They pull the starting D when they pull the starting O.

That said, EJ had alot more time than he did most of late last season and he looked awful on accuracy.

Are they? You were the one calling out EJ defenders in the game thread. That seems pretty WC to me.

This was a scrimmage. I was encouraged by some aspects, disappointed by others but am not going to overanalyze a fake game that didn't count.

I think the concern is do to his progression. Can any of you honestly say he looked better today than he did at the start of last season? If you don't think criticism is a necessary evil then enjoy a life of mediocrity. I'm glad Jimbo finds fault in our players all game long.

The issue is you have incomplete information. Why did EJ throw so much? What was Jimbo really looking at? [I guarantee you it wasn't EJ the offensive MVP for the spring]. Was Benjamin a freshman running correct routes? Did the defense basically know what the offense was going to do? Was EJ going through his progressions? [seemed to be doing that to me, but hard to know if you weren't standing out there observing] When Jimbo says one thing and posters another, then I tend to give the coach the benefit of the doubt. When people based on limited information make blanket statements then I tend to disregard.peace

  • This is why these things should not be televised, people take way too much from them.

That said, this is the typical FSU fan reaction, going back to when people were screaming for Danny to replace Chollie, then Busby to replace Danny..and on and on....so I am nto surprised and no thats not a slam on anyone, just happens the game was televised and people will overreact to what they see, good or bad.

  • When your playing against back-ups and walk on's you'll look better. And in my opinion Coker didn't look better than EJ besides his play action naked bootleg.

  • Oline will still be the main problem. If they don't play at a higher standard, it won't matter who the qb is.

  • EJ
    A) He’s average if he can’t use his legs.
    B) He’s very good if he can use legs.
    C) He’s exceptionally good if he can use his legs and make the appropriate checks/read the middle third a majority of the time
D)He’s elite if he can use his legs, make the appropriate checks/read the middle third and get over his nerves consistently.

Swiped from another site, and I couldn't have said it better. He's a much different player when he HAS to stay int he pocket+ the defense can just pin back their ears EVERY play becuase they know he will not run.

What's incomplete about taking what I've seen from him the last couple seasons, observing his 50+ passes yesterday, and suggesting that he doesn't seem to be progressing? Y'all act like EJ is a freshman and everyone is judging him on one spring game. By the way, I don't think we see anyone play QB this year unless EJ's right arm falls off. I'll leave off the cute little emoticon bc I don't "peace" people after a real conversation. What decade are you living in?

  • For a guy that has a chance to win 4 straight bowl games, EJ doesn't get alot of respect from some of the meth users on this board.

  • I'm just going to put this here rather than start a new thread, but it could go in about a dozen different active threads right now...

I hate to say it, but PBen is right. This is why I had the game on, but it was in the background and I was working on other things around the house...also why I didn't bother to turn the computer on after we were replaced with lacrosse (but really, lacrosse??!?). It is also why I am waiting until fall Saturdays to make any conclusions about this team or individual players.

A spring scrimmage is a tool for coaches, somewhat of a science lab. Putting it on tv doesn't change anything. You all know starters are split up. I know it's all we have right now, but keep it in perspective.

I've seen EJ have magical moments in live game experience, and I've seen him fall short. I'm going to hope something comes together for his senior season and we get more of the magic, but if not, I will trust Jimbo and Coley come up with the best game plans to use what they've got. And they've got a lot.

  • Its the same thing with EJ. He just needs to RELAX. He has the arm and the legs and just needs to get his head in the game

    GG30023

  • I think anybody expecting a Heisman type seaon from EJ is a bit of a homer, and people are correct when they say that EJ probably isn't going to play that much better than we've already seen.

But for people on here to judge what the 2012 season will look like based on a Spring scrimmage are friggin' nuts. Players are held out, QBs are off-limits, plays are called differently, the lineups are completely out of order, etc. Are we going to win a NC, probably not? But I didn't need a Spring game to tell me that, and I certainly don't think EJ will be why we don't win a NC.

He is a redshirt senior, he is overrated. The kid has been making the same mistakes every year if it wasnt for this kids legs he would be our 3rd team QB at best. His decision making and him trying to diagnose a defense is down right awful. Thats not to mention he is a turnover machine.

U talking about e.j. or jacory harris?

Wards SR YR..69.5% Comp..3032 Yds 27 TDs...4 Int........EJ had a great JR season compared to CW who many think was Florida States best QB ever!!! And lets not forget EJ missed playing time...He is our best QB hands down..

Haven't watched much of the game either. I probably won't until a night where I am bored and can't sleep.

  • Stats aren't really my problem with Ej. My problem is he doesn't produce when it counts. And Charlie used his legs..
