Who has a leg up at the Center position going into summer?

  • Stork, Barron, or Lovelady? I know Pettis is listed as a C, but I think he may be too tall for that position, you don't see many 6'5" C.

  • Barron I would think Right now.

  • Barron would be my pick as well. Jimbo was talking him up a lot at the center position in the spring if memory serves me right.

  • I like Stork. I understand that Barron gets everyone on the same page, but he still isn't there physically.

Then I'd like to see Krug in year two back up this spot, as well as both OG spots. Which allows you to redshirt both Lovelady and Barron(god willing). And I still think Lovelady has more upside than Barron now that he is learning the position.

I agree Canolee. I upvoted everyone but agree with you.

Fahrenkrug has his remaining value as depth and allowing a guy or two to shirt. I think he and Orelus form our interior depth this year. We simply have to throw Glauser, Watson and Faircloth to the wolves at RT and see who comes out alive.

Stork was overwhelmed with the mental part last year because he spent most of the offseason at LG and then hafway thru fall camp Trickett hit the shuffle button. Does he have the natural football IQ Barron has? Obviously not. But if he spent all summer and fall at that spot he'd be more then fine.

Hopefully Barron makes marked gains in S&C though and just dominates the spot and then maybe Stork can start at whichever guard spot that Matias or Jackson could use a little more seasoning at.

  • I think Turpin has the upper hand but JC transfer Gilchrist could surprise.

The big question will be new 7 footers Oja and Boris.....wait your talking football? We are still in the ACC and football doesn't matter....

I also like Stork if Glauser or Watson can win the RT tackle spot. Would love to redshirt Barron and Hart like they should have last year.

  • The fact that people actually want this guy starting at center for us scares me.

+1, Hart is seemingly going to RS almost no matter what. Barron is further along so Lovelady will redshirt as well.

  • Trick tried Stork initially, but commented that he didn't want to give him too much from a mental aspect that his "head was spinning" with the change last Spring. But physically, he was our best OL his last two games IMO(Sanders a close second).

And I actually liked Lovelady at Center more than Barron in the Spring game. He is more physical and the fact that he played LT shows you how dependable and athletic he is.
