Who are your summer top performers?

  • I got a recruiting question -- pads are about to go on, but who had the most impressive summer IYO.

I've been to a lot of camps/combines from everywhere from Miami to Oregon and I think I've been most impressed with Tony Stevens. Really seen him grow as a player from event to event.

I've also seen him come out of his shell. When first meeting him in March at the first IMG 7on7 he was quiet and shy >>> fast forward to The Opening and Gridiron Kings you saw a kid who was much more comfortable and confident in his skill. He is much more outgoing as a leader.

Who are some of the commits or FSU targets that stood out to you this summer?

  • Stevens is a great pick. gotta throw in Denson because his stock has skyrocketed over the past few months. i think Green's play has cemented him as the #1 all-purpose back in the nation going into the fall, and Collins was able to show that adding 20+ lbs to his frame did nothing to decrease his speed/agility as a rb.

"Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."

  • Ryan Green was a big factor at the opening which RBs aren't usually in 7on. He and Pender together are going to be fun to watch.

Matthew Thomas... after a couple years in our S&C program he will be a FREAK.

  • I was pretty impressed with Isaiah Jones at the Opening

    Lincoln Hawk

  • I have to vote Denson. He's really burst onto the scene this summer.

    NOLES_WIN

  • Ira Denson has dominated and is putting himself in the elite ranks. Ryan Green is the other dominate player at camps and is by far underrated so far.

  • Ira Denson.

Tony Stevens already had pre-summer buzz because of his YouTube highlights. Ira Denson was an unknown going into the summer camp circuit. Even Fish and others have said he didn't stand out in the state championship as a Junior.

That's certainly one of the top couple guys I'll be watching this fall to see how they translate to the field.

  • I really liked Alex Collins at both Florida State and USF this summer.

Also, Elish Shaw, rising junior defensive tackle from Georgia was phenomenal at Florida State's camp. He has some academic work to resolve, but if he can become a qualifier he will be a national recruit.

In all of FL was there any other recruit that had a more impressive summer then Asiantii Woulard? Nope.. Elite11 MVP, US Army Game invite, ESPN #1 Dual Threat QB, USF commit..

Think he'll stay committed if a bunch of big time programs come knocking?

Big programs talking a big game, wanting to see him throw, etc is what got him to decommit from USF initially.. He's been down that route before and those elite teams didn't pull the trigger. I think it made him appreciate USF's staff that much more because they've showed him the love through it all. Doesn't seem like he's buying into that talk again. Looks like he's taking the stance of "hey, those teams had their shot with me and passed. If I wasn't good enough for them during spring eval then I'm not good enough for them now." Pretty sure a lot of teams in the southeast passed because he only has one year as a HS QB. Most of the elite teams in the southeast already have their #1 QB locked up. Woulard is saying all the right things and says he's solid. I think he sticks.. Looking forward to seeing if Woulard's relationship will help USF pull Tony Stevens.

Not saying I think it's likely he'll flip or anything, but Stevens did say he wanted to take an offical to USF.. He is friends with Woulard. As long as Stevens takes an OV to Tampa its not impossible..

  • I'll go with Collins.Love his game.

    NoLeFrEaK

  • Denson and Collins have stood out to me. Denson has remade his body, gotten serious about performing and upped his stock tremendously. Collins...he's making everybody a believer. I really want him in this class.

  • How about kermit? He has shown out at every event hes been to and proven himself, albeit without the pads, to be an elite type of player.

I hope Stevens does take a visit to USF for the FSU game. I know there are going to be a ton of FSU fans at that game and the game itself should solidify his FSU commitment.

I wouldn't put him in the elite category. Only truly elite player I saw this summer on offense was OJ Howard.

Don't mistake "very good" for "elite". Kermit's size is going to make him a one-dimensional player on the next level. Although that one dimension is pretty lethal.
