When Gators come here and say we have not done anything

  • I counter with this.
Under achieving by OUR standard. If you compare winning records for the last 24 years vs. the mighty Gators you will see that only 8 times have the Mighty Gators have a better record than us.

  • They can harp on the all-time record all they want, but since 1987 we are 15-11-1 against FU and 19-18-1 since Bowden came to FSU in 1976. Those early years we had a big disadvantage and couldn't get a foot-hold. We've matched up pretty well since then.

  • Perfect Seasons: FSU-1, UF-None
Wire to wire #1 National Championships: FSU-1, UF-None

  • We shouldn't lean too hard on our scaly friends. After all, they have been playing football for 105 years, and it took them 90 years to win a MNC. The Noles turned the trick after 46 years, fifty years less than it took the gates.

While they were drawing many more from the talent pool in Florida, they did prevail in the first nineteen meetings(and that only after they were told to put us on the schedule), 16-2-1. As tri points out, since BB came on the scene and talent has equaled out, the gates don't have much to write home about with the Noles holding the edge.

  • Dang most of those seasons came from 2004-2009 during the streak when we were down and they were all high and mighty. What I hate about some gator fans is they tell us to not get happy for beating them the last two years, but happy as little kids in a candy shop when they beat us for six years in a row.

  • the only thing that really ever matters is what the current program has accomplished. When Urban took over for Zook, Zook's record became irrelevant. When Jimbo took over for Bobby, Bobby's accomplishments are minimized. When Muschamp took over for Urban, Urban's run is minimized. Jimbo has more accomplished than Muschamp at this point...period.

That said, they possess the most recent NC title and we now own the head to head streak. Hopefully, we can get our hands on another NC trophy before they do. I sure like our chances over theirs.

Between your bad grammar, delusion, and your inability to grasp the current state of affairs of your program, you do sound eerily similar to a cane fane.

  • I have a question for the gators that frequent this board.
If you guys go 7-5 this year while losing to the following teams would you continue to support Muschamp?
    Tenn
    LSU
    UGA
    USCe
    FSU

The Tennessee game is the only one you guys are currently considered favorites for.

Of course. 4 of those teams will probably be top 10-12 teams (preseason). We will be in good shape just by winning 2 of those gms, and that is a possibility.

Will you guys continue to support Jimbo if FSU fails to make the ACCCG/BCS bowl? Jimbo has alot more on his plate than Muschamp this season.

It does look promising though (on paper). FSU has the talent.

You will find that the overwhelming majority of us are not "obsessed." We just respond when provoked.

You were talking about numbers, so let's look at a few. Teams have been playing for the MNC for 148 years. The gates starting competing in football since 1906, 105 years. The Noles have been competing since 1947, 64 years. The gates have 3 MNCs, one for every 35 years of competing. Noles have 2 MNC, one for every 32 years of competing. Edge to the Noles.

Wasnt comparing your stench of a program to theirs. I was simply comparing you to their fans. You wont get any kind of argument from me about that awful cesspool in gables. (To be honest with you, im hoping you tear them up in 2013). Of course we hope you guys stay down, the longer the better. Do I or any other rational Nole fan think UF is going to be in the dumps forever, nope. You guys have too much in terms of money, facilities, fan base, and everything that makes college football great. We will still beat you like a red-headed step child this season.

  • Just curious 308, what is the one finger for that Muschamp is holding up? It sure can't be, "We're number one," after a dismal 7-6 record and 2012 also looking bleak. Maybe it's, "I've only made one mistake, leaving Texas."

A 10 win regular season is pretty close to the minimum expected by me. I feel the injury excuse for the 2011 season not turning out as well as expected is legit but I would not be very happy with a repeat in 2012. If a 10 win regular season doesn't result in a ACC championship game appearance then my attitude will be determined by the specific causes of those losses. While I expect to win the ACC this year, I don't believe it is fair to base the success of an entire season on 1 game.
An 8 or 9 win regular season will place Jimbo firmly on the hot seat in 2013 as far as I'm concerned. As you said the fact that FSU has the capability to do really well this year, places the responsibility for not doing well on Jimbo's shoulders. Btw from what I've read and heard Jimbo believes this team has chance to be really good and hasn't had a problem with setting high expectations at boosters meetings this year (he didn't do this in 2010,11).

Ive noticed Jimbo's confidence showing alot more this offseason as well. Well, from the little Ive read about on different sites.

Thats something positive for the squad to pick up on. Has to be a good feeling, as a player, knowing that your coaching staff is bragging about you a little.

Whatever the case, its hard going undefeated in any "big 6" conference. I dont care what anybody says. It takes alot of skill, and alot of luck.

I'll be satisfied with an 8-9 win season, for the Gators. But, they have to be able to compete against the big boys (i.e. FSU, UGA, LSU, USCe, etc) Muschamp hopefully can win at least 1 of those.

You wouldn't be the favorite, the point I was making is that it was very possible that you lose 5 games next year including losses to all of your major rivals and was wondering what the uf fan bases reaction to that would be. You guys have gained a reputation of pulling the trigger on coaches pretty quickly...

  • UF fans are still getting accustomed to being relevant.

Prior to Spurrier, they had all the money, the connections, and could get the recruits.

Yet they constantly underachieved. They never won an SEC title they could keep until 1991, and won an Orange and played in a single Sugar Bowl from 1935-1990.

In terms of tradition, they have always been a punching bag for the SEC.

It has helped to develop their "us against the world" mentality.

As a whole, if UF was a kid on the playground, they'd be the one off playing by themselves cause the other guys were no fun.

Also the one you have to worry about coming to school packing firearms dressed all in black...............

If that is the criteria then UM has 5 rings and we played them every year during that time along with the Gators and still won two national championships. So tell me again how tough the SEC schedule was?
