What are you most looking forward to

  • Clearly, after the bowl game, the FSU football program will be changing in many ways. From coaches, to a new quarterback, to a new indoor practice facility - this program will be drastically different by the time next season rolls around.

    So, what are you looking the most forward to as far as the additions to the program (IPF included) and/or the unknown?

    Personally, I'm really looking forward to watching the quarterback situation unfold throughout spring. I'm still sticking with my pick of Winston to win the job and I can't wait to see what he can do.

  • I am looking forward to Signing Day, simply because it is what is coming up next. I think defensive coaching changes are next in line.

  • Definently to find out what D we will be running but a close second is seeing Winston win the job. Im right there with you Sean I think he is one of the most athletic on the team and probably the best student of the game and just a baller. The IPF will be cool cause they won't have to move up practices or miss practices because of weather. I'm excited about it all haha. Lets whoop the huskies

  • I'm ready to see Karlos take over Brooks and watching him and Joyner punish college football. The qb race will be the most competitive and deepest since Jimbos been here. Jimbo and Craig will have a tough decision to make.

    I'm kind of hoping Karlos goes to LB full time, we need more help there and I think he has the potential to be outstanding at that position. I really like Winston but I would not be at all surprised or disappointed if Clint gets the starting job. Part of the reason why Ponder beat out Weatherford was because our OL was going to be really bad that year, this shouldn't be the case next year and I think Clint is going to have a clear advantage when it comes to playbook knowledge. That being said if Clint gets injured during the season or for whatever reason Winston gets a start, I believe Winston should be able to hold onto the position.

    I'm also anxious to see whether, when, or how much 3-4 we run. I would like to see us maintain a 4-3 base (with a 3-4 mixed in on passing situations or as a change up) because I think it gives us a significant recruiting advantage when it comes to DTs and larger DEs against several of our major competitors such as UF, Bama, and UGA.

    Brooks > Joyner, and judging from this past season its not even that close

    Brooks had one bad game against Clemson, Joyner did close to nothing all year except catch a INT that was tipped right to him

    And Joyner's UF game was ten times as bad as Brooks Clemson game

    Joyner is too damn small for defense at this level, he is good at hitting guys from Samford and Duke but when faced against a real team he is nowhere to be found time and time again

    Joyner had the most disappointing season on defense by far for me, and the ACC making him first team all conference was one of the best trolls I have ever seen

    They had nearly identical season statistics but Brooks is bigger with a slight edge in tackles while forcing one fumble, much rather the safeties be Brooks and Karlos with Joyner moving to nickel back, corner or even switch to offense cause his best attribute is having the ball in his hands

  • I'm skeptical that FSU is going to stay in the ACC. Clearly we'll be sentenced to a 2013 slate of these crap teams but I really believe the future lies elsewhere. Aside from that I'm excited about...

    1. A spectacular ending to this up and down recruiting cycle. We will finish strong.
    2. A new look defense that shows more varied looks resulting in more turnovers and big plays.
    3. Wild and Free running...ahem...wild and free behind what should be one of the best lines in the country. The ground game will be instrumental in providing security for Trickett to operate a ball control attack.

  • Seeing a decent amount of guys get drafted will be exciting. As far as football goes our schedule next year is going to make it really tough to pay attention after the Orange Bowl

    Disagree for the most part. Yes his season was somewhat disappointing but he is not "too damn small" for anything. He certainly wasn't too small in 2011.

    In my opinion, he's wasted at safety. Maybe Pruitt will put him in better position to play to his strengths. I believe he should move to corner. Our CBs lacked physicality which was on display in the UF game you mentioned. Joyner has long arms to offset his lack of height, straight line speed and the aggression to play on the edge.

    Agreed he should be at corner, Stoops moving him to safety and keeping Karlos on the bench was a huge mistake imo

    Wrong... Joyner > Brooks and it's not even close. Just because he didn't make any spectacular plays doesn't mean he wasn't doing his job. Joyner is one of the top 5 player in our program....

    Not wrong, they both are practically equal to each other and bring many of the same things to the table. Ill take Brooks due to his size, Joyner is only better than Brooks when it comes to having the ball in his hands, for that is what Joyner does better than almost anybody in the country, let alone on the Noles roster.     I like Joyner, but he is far from an elite safety and won't ever be one due to the fact he is 5'8" and 185 pounds

    But you, like most Noles on the internets almost always support the 5 star kids over somebody who wasn't the big time recruit

    3- Bjoern Werner
    4- Devonta Freeman
    5- Rashad Greene
    6- James Wilder Jr
    7- Tim Jernigan
    8- Christian Jones
    9- Brandon Jenkins ( would have had a much bigger impact than Joyner this season )
    10- Lamarcus Joyner ( maybe, I could make an argument for Rhodes, Brooks, Vince W, Nick O, Erving, Hopkins and Watson )

    He barely makes my top 10 in terms of kids on the current roster

    Joyner's ability to cover ground on the back end is greater than Brooks. Joyners instincts are better. Joyner's man to man coverage skills are better. If he were 3 inches taller he would be a first round draft pick. I'm not saying Brooks isn't good, but it's laughable to say he's better than Joyner. 10 out of 10 coaches start Joyner over Brooks anywhere on the field...

    By the way, he's better than Freeman, Greene, Wilder, Thompson( due to his durability), and Jones...
