  • Any chance Trickett will be going as well? One can always hope.
as to coley, it is time for him to go and prove himself for his sake.

I wonder if we will take Hudson. He was a decent DC at ECU

  • Eliot: Doesn't make sense for Stoops to hire an unproven guy as his DC. Doesn't make sense for Eliot to go to UK for the same position and likely be paid less than at FSU.

Coley: Makes zero sense for Stoops to hire an OC that doesn't even call plays at FSU. But I actually hope Coley leaves (even if it's not for UK). He needs it to further his career and FSU may need it to further our program.

Hudson: Guy has some good defenses at ECU. Our LBs have been unimpressive here. Not sure why. Have no clue if Stoops would hire him as DC or not. But if Stoops leaves Hargreaves would be a really intriguing hire.

  • I agree with everything you said trick

Eliot goes only if he is the DC at KY... if not, he is taking a big risk in leaving...I dont care what his relationship is with Stoops...

Stoops NEEDS a great Florida recruiter so it would be a slight risk to take him as an OC but he knows what Coley can and cant do as a potential OC.....

  • I'll take Mickey back, just give him a nasty LB coach and a DE coach that's not Amato..

Could Stoops hire Eliot to be the DC but still call the plays for a year or 2 as Eliot becomes a better DC?

He could, but it seems risky to do so at a school like Kentucky.

Sure but why would you want to do that? That's what Fisher did with Coley and I think most people agree it hasn't worked as well as hoped. But probably worked as well as could be expected.

Just smh that Fisher did that crap in the first place.

  • Eliot and coley are going to uk...Hudson is going somewhere else. Odell will be the only one left again. Read between the lines people. Hudson will get passed up and move on! Read between the lines

  • Can't fault Stoops for jumping at the opportunity, but the timing is odd/terrible and I'd like to think with the Pedigree and Success he may have been able to wait out a better position with more upside. Even if he was most interested in landing in the SEC, you'd have to believe that a few more positions may be coming open when the rest of the chips fall.

Eliot leaving makes sense, he's a Stoops guy, but I agree that it's a long shot unless he is given the DC position. Don't see the DC role being out of reach for Eliot due to Stoops maintaining a heavy role in the deploying/game planning the defensive scheme. Wouldn't be castrated to the point that Coley has under Fisher as OC, but more of an active mentor/protege type of relationship with mutually shared responsibilities.

Coley is a bit harder to understand, but would also make sense for his career if Stoops/Kentucky are willing to sign off on the hire at OC.

With regards to recruiting, Coley and Eliot would be felt on the recruiting trail, but not to the extent IMO that some may believe. I'm no insider, and although both brought value, IMO Gran, Craig, Dawsey, and Haggins are the fabric of our recruiting juggernaut and would be more difficult to replace than either Coley or Eliot.

Both will be missed, but in the words of pretty much every coach with a team worth their weight.....next man up.

  • I am very curious to know why fans think Eliot is a viable candidate for DC. I just don't think FSU is a place where you "learn" to be a DC. Same questions I had w/ Jimbo. If he IS given the job, we hould be prepared to take the good w/ the bad.

Personally not sure that he is. But depends on how badly FSU wants to keep him. Because that's probably what it would take, given his relationship with Stoops.

I just don't see Elliot leaving FSU to be the DE coach at Kentucky. That's a terrible business decision, regardless of his relationship with Stoops. After 3 years, I'm sure he has a relationship with Fisher and Odell too.

Having said that, Elliot isn't a guy you give a high profile job just to keep around. He's been a great coach for FSU, but there are a lot of very good coaches out there that can coach up 4 and 5 star talent.

  • If Elliot does go I hope that ODell becomes the DL coach and not just the DT's. That would allow a secondary coach and a LB coach.

Not sure that he'd leave for the same job, didn't mean to imply that.

Not necessary, if Eliot leaves with Stoops then we already need a DE coach and a DB coach, unless you want two LB coaches. Don't forget Hudson is the LB coach.
