Another Florida State junior is skipping his senior season and pursuing professional football.

  • Good luck to Watson

    Tunsil......yes please.

If you can't sell PT to this kid then you should not be recruiting.

  • It's gonna be a loooong 2013.

  • Congrats Menelik, you earned it!

    Ailvys....based on what?

    fsufsu

  • Happy for him and think it's the right decision.

  • Just because he has only been in a Tallahassee a year, doesn't make him just out of High School. The guy has responsibilities beyond that of a normal college kid.

He came in and did exactly what you want out of a JUCO lineman, plug a hole that is lacking from underclassmen. I really hope it works out for him, and am glad we got him for the year we got him.

  • I was really looking forward to seeing Watson take a huge step forward next year to being a dominating player, so that's frustrating. He strikes me as the type that is going to really impress people during the pre-draft stuff and I could see him skyrocketing up some draft boards. Congrats to him and hope the draft goes well for him. Bobby Hart is going to have to get his stuff together, because the team needs him to step up and live up to his talent level. If not, then hopefully we land one of the big-time tackles and they're ready to go right away.

  • I unfortunately do not agree to see Watson go to the next level. Just because you block Werner, Carradine, and Jenkins in practice does not make you worthy to be NFL Level. The sad part about this is that he will not be drafted and he will have to go out by himself to develop because an NFL team will see him as a developmental player and may not get the shot he deserves if he would have waited for another year. But good luck any way and hope you don't have an agent yet so you can change your mind.

  • Good for Watson. Bobby Hart should be ready to go. I'm assuming Glausser can't come back either.

This whole post is a hard fail. He'll get drafted probably in the middle of the draft.

Ummmm…..why do you think…..losing lots of coaches, lots of good players. I’d rather lose LJ or CJ than Watson. Losing him is a big blow. We’ll see, obviously, but when Watson was out this year, the oline struggled hard. Maybe that will change next year, but I’d feel much more confident with Watson coming back.

Watson will hurt, no question, but we should be able to replace him at least adequately. We lose coaches, but hire new ones, so I don't see the issue there. We only really get crushed at DE.

I'd feel better if he came back, too, but that doesn't mean it will be a "looong 2013."

If you don’t think losing four or five coaches in the same offseason will impact the team in the short term, then I’d don’t know what to tell you. Combine that with losing Hopkins, a fifth year SR QB, Lonnie, Watson, and the Dline (where you admitted we are getting “crushed”) and it will be a very hard hit to the gut next year.

Watson is currently projected as a 2nd-3rd rounder.

I really don't think losing the coaches is a big deal. We replace them presumably with talented coaches who will have plenty of time to get on the same page before the summer. That only hurts us perhaps in recruiting the 2013 class.

Losing Hopkins is big, as well as Lonnie. EJ (I have been a huge fan) really regressed. So, perhaps that may not end up being a big loss if we rely more on the run and play action. I still think we'll be a 10-11 win team next year with a healthy off-season.

  • good luck to him. Will he have taken care of his family if he goes in the 7th round? I hope for his sake he does go early in the draft.

As to replacements, Watson was a decent to good ol for us. If losing 1 decent to good ol makes this ol take a step back then we need to reevaluate on things regarding the ol.

You are so on your own planet.

    7th Round? "Decent to good"?

With a year previous of name recognition, he would have been all conference instead of honorable mention. His measurables will keep him in rounds 2-3.

  • Acc honorable mention is not great. Never. When a mac dl wins his share of battles against you are not great.

That is decent to good. Watson perfomance has been overrated while he is at FSU. He may be a great player in the NFL. that does not mean he was a great ol at FSU. If that is the case then marion butts was a great FB at FSU and comartie a great CB.

As to 7th round, we need to see him get drafted before we state it was a good decision. So, if he were to go in the 7th round will it have been a good decision? that was my only point.

He may go in the 2nd round or may rounds lower. we'll see.

I hope for his sake he goes high in the draft.

Won't be drafted!? Are you crazy? He's not a first rounder like he could be if he waited, but he'll go before the 5th.
