UF to Make Staff Change

JMO, but I always think its shady when these things go down after NSD. Id prefer they didnt get Callaway, dudes been in the Southeast for years, Im sure he has some strong recruiting ties.

Reports: staff shakeup under way

As reported by Gator Bait last week, there has been a shakeup on the Florida coaching staff. Reliable sources say Frank Verducci is out and Tim Davis is in as O-line coach.

Their OL was putrid last season, so might as well bring some new leadership in and hope that helps.

It's official: Davis hired for OL

Tim Davis has been hired as Floridas offensive line coach, replacing Frank Verducci, who left the staff last week and is expected to take a job in the NFL.

3rd OL coach in 3 years?
4th OC in 5 years?
And they've been saying on that site for weeks now that there would be a coaching change. It was absolutely known before NSD and just withheld.

Are you actually trying to say this isn't shady as hell? Yep having such great coaches has led to such fantastic success the last couple of years. Basically it looks like people are bailing from a sinking ship. Hopefully everyone competing against UF for OL recruits uses this against them. Tell the recruits the coach likely won't actually be their coach their Freshman year and sure as hell won't be their coach their Sophomore year.

Addazio was awful and Weis was a flop. Considering those 2 guys account for nearly half of the 7 coaching positions I named I wouldn't go around bragging about that.

Bailing from a sinking ship?
Mullen left for Miss. St after the 2008 season. How would you call that bailing? He had basically everyone returning.
Addazio was on the staff from 2005-2010. He wasnt retained by Muschamp, so that wasnt a bail out attempt.
And from the latest reports Verducci was fired.
Besides, there's nothing wrong with upgrading your staff, whenever and however it happens.

So he is going to land a job in the NFL, but he wasn't good enough for Florida? Your offensive line sucked because of personnel, not because of coaching. Expecting a coach to put a good product on the field in 8 months is absurd. You will have those same expectations this year with a new coach and will see the same results.
Quick turnover is not always a good thing.

You're right it did suck due to personnel, injuries, and lack of depth.
He wasnt fired for performance reasons. Reportedly, he contacted the Chiefs (I could be wrong here with the team) about one of their vacancies. This was supposedly done behind Muschamp's back.
A quick turnover for the better is always a good thing.

Verducci was fired after Muschamp found out he interviewed with the Chiefs...There is an insider article on it over on our site but im not sure if im allowed to post it over here.. Basically Verducci interviewed with KC without tellin Muschamp first, an was fired on the spot. Unlike how Dan Quinn did, he told Muschamp up front that he was going to interview with TB.

Leaving for a head coaching job doesn't mean he wasn't in a hurry to leave. It's pretty obvious Malzahn left in a hurry, but he left for a head coaching gig. If you leave after for a bad head coaching gig, then your leaving in a hurry.
