Here's a CRAZY idea..
Beat the hell out of teams whose 1st stringers couldnt crack your 2 deep.
Then, in what experts call "garbage time", you play your 2nd and 3rd string guys.
This is effective because in tackle football, the game time is determined by the clock. If you score many many points early, the opposing team doesnt have tome to come back, so the game is not in jeopardy if if your young guys make a mistake or two. It allows them to be more relaxed and acclimated to game situations.
I know this is a ridiculous, ludicrous concept, but I hope Jimbo catches on to this new theory.

You mean we didn't play the backups in the games that were close? Why not, I wonder?
In all games we played backups regularly at most every spot other than QB and OL. In all games that were blowouts, we played both second and third teamers. People often complained that we rotated too much at WR, RB, DE, etc. We were thin at corner and safety, and still rotated them a decent amount.
Some people just have a hard on for Jimbo hating. I can't really do much with that. Not saying that's the case with WillyDees, necessarily.

You mean like we did literally all last year? Okay, just checking.
Since we're talking about QBs in this thread and I know you aren't just railing without a point, it must be your argument that we should take our first year starter out of the game as quickly as possible so we can give valuable game reps to the second and third string QBs. Can you name other successful programs that do this with their QBs regularly? So that we can clue Jimbo in to this new theory.

Wake.
Duke.
BC.
And In the 4th quarter of all those games, EJ is still in. 5th year senior, up 40 points...still in the game.
I wont compare apples to oranges, because many top programs are SEC programs, and dont get to play two FCS teams and a pretty pathetic conference schedule featuring teams like Duke, BC, and Maryland.
2 examples that immediately come to mind are Cole Stoudt of Clemson and Bryan Bennett of Oregon. Hell, I think I rember Kiffin, as dumb as he is, played Whittek in the opener.
Playing in a terrible conference gives us a distinct advantage to get our backup QBs pt. The schedule next year is more than managable, and I hope to see more game reps for the mon starters than we saw from Clint in 2012.
