That is actually true, I googled this (SAETEXAS take note) the conference has the member schools report to it, then it submits those findings, so it gives the "appearance" of running it.
I also googled the B12 contract, and indeed Texas is locked in, so that answers that.
In the future I will google first, post second.

Amy - It's about 300 miles from Alexandria to Dallas. What do you drive?
On a serious note - TX and OU can be a pain in the ass but with the 13 year GOR, they aren't going anywhere and don't have as much power as they used to because of that. All the drama from the past couple years has made everyone in the Big 12 crave and appreciate stability like never before. Every team in the conference is happy to be there and loving the new TV deal.
We are a football conference and every Big 12 school understands this. The teams that suck in football don't suck because they're not trying.
Full disclosure - I'm a Baylor grad.

I've been reading that your new contract with ESPN includes Tier 3 rights. It amounts to a $17 million payout to each school.
In the Big 12, our contract is currently $20 million per school and you get to keep your Tier 3 rights.
We sell our T-3 rights for $15 million per year. That's in addition to the $20 million we receive from the Big 12 contract.
Florida State - being located in football crazy Florida - could sell their Tier 3 rights for a small fortune.
Y'all are leaving a lot on the table staying in the ACC in my opinion.

Question for the Texas guys. How well do the teams travel for road games in your conference other than UT and OU. FSU fans get hung up on our home attendance but they fail to realize that the fans of ACC teams don't travel which effects our attendance. The hidden money in this equation is the possibility of BIG 12 teams helping sell out our stadium. Most ACC teams send back most of their allotment. Away teams buying 10000 tickets at 40 bucks a pop x 5 games is another 2mil not including concession sales. It amazes me how people never factor this in.

You're saying the Big Ten does not payout that research money? Sorry, didn't quite follow.
The CIC just reports the combined research its member institutions participate in, which is something absurd like $6B. But a school won't see their research make a huge jump simply by joining the Big Ten.

KSt travels well but I honestly wouldn't expect much from the others. Maybe more people would be traveling at first because of the novelty but improving visitor attendance is not what's driving this bus.
Minimizing geographic isolation for FSU and CU is a big plus for GT and Miami if they're in the mix.
Maybe it would help if the Big 12 required Jenn Sterger to attend all FSU home games?

UT just cut loose its jort wearing ninnys to the SEC and they have a lot in common with your Gainesville brethren. Former all boys school... Cult like activities worshiping animals... Strange attraction for animal husbandry... Forrest Gump like collective intellect... Delusions of grandeur... Yes, we understand and vehemently reject the mentality. LOL

First, you cannot ignore a 13 year GOR. It is a huge commitment. Texas already passed on the Big 10 last year to stay in the Big 12 and in 13 years you will have four super-conferences of 16 teams that will not include the ACC. So FSU is going somewhere else ultimately to remain relevant. FSU, Miami, GT and CU add nothing to the SEC TV footprint so it makes complete sense to go to the Big 12. The move of these 4 to the Big 12 would likely trigger expansion by the SEC to NC and VA for TV reasons and they will be done. The Big 10 will likely scoop up the AAU members of the ACC. The real danger for FSU is that their leadership rejects the Big 12 now and gets left out. It could happen if the Big 12 moves on the other ACC teams.

True, but the B12 adding FSU, Miami, GT and CU would allow the B12 to encroach on the SEC's footprint which, though unlikely might convince the SEC to counter offer a couple of the schools. While the SEC has never been concerned about the ACC, the B12 with the addition of those 4 schools could make an argument that they are the preeminent football conference. Either way it is a win win as far as I'm concerned, more money and a better schedule.

. I have a Civic, which gets pretty good gas mileage, or if need be, a plane ride would be less than an hour. This car has made the drive from Jacksonville, FL to Ocean Springs MS having stopped only once to fill up, so if there were games in Dallas, I would gladly put up with a 5 hour drive.
