There are FSU fans who are disappointed in this class.

Most people are stupid

Could it be because it's been awhile(to the best of my memory) since we've gotten a commit? I'm excited about this class, and in no way fall into this camp, just throwing it out there as a theory as to why FSU fans feel this way.....at least some of them anyway.

I like the early commits, they tend to stick more often than not, unless I'm missing something.

Most fans cling to whatever positive they can, and right now because of formulas on Rivals and Scout their class is ranked higher. So they cling to that instead of mentioning they are barely ranked higher than us with 2x the number of committed kids.

If you compare the average of the ratings of Florida State's entire class of fifteen to average of the ratings of Miami's top fifteen there is not much difference. I looked at four different recruiting services and only one gave a significant edge to Florida State's fifteen. The FSU class includes a couple of kickers and kickers don't get much love from recruiting services so that brings down their average significantly. However, Miami has thirty one recruits. When some of the fifteen don't pan out, Miami has more depth to their class. Some of those bottom half recruits well develop into quality college players. As of right now, this FSU class is better but the difference is not as vast as some would like to believe. Fifteen to fifteen, the classes are not that far apart and Miami's class has more wiggle room when it comes to recruits that wind up being disappointing. This wasn't meant to be inflammatory just take it for what it's worth.

We see what that class accomplished too. Zero bowl wins and one winning season( 10 wins or more). I would not brag on that class if I were them.
Miami has twice the commits we have and is not even in the top 10 in espn or 24/7 rankings and only 4 spots ahead of us in rivals. Again, nothing to brag about.

They may not have that many recruits after the Ncaa comes down on them. Bowl bans and loss of schollys will guarantee they wont be on top fora very long tone

Andrew don’t waste your time with these guys, let them enjoy it is their given right to be happy.

In this cycle FSU has signed 4-5 guys who are legitimately the best player at their position in the entire country.

Miami is also higher than they should be in the ratings because they are already at 30 commits.

By signing day UM will drop significantly in the ESPN, Scout, Rivals, and 247 recruiting rankings.

Andrew you are just finding solace in the fact that many of the rankings are so similar numerically.

I can break down one reason why Miami's class sucks. The Defensive front seven. Your current team will be terrible there and your class is "good". You needed epic and have good. And we are going to take Northrup.

You can break down how your WRs are good but your current roster sucks at WR so good luck, ours is stacked and we got the best WR of the entire group it looked like.

Its about meeting needs. We still need a good corner but aside from that our class is better than yours but the real issue isn't that. For our teams to get closer going into next year you guys needed a 30 man class that is as good as you thought your 2008 class was. That isn't happening.

Yes, that's exactly what I found solace in.

Miami needs help all over the map (front seven, secondary, o-line, receiver, water boy you name it). Any recruit they get meets their needs.

I think the Buckeyes could get Northrup.

I thought the 08' group was overrated. Among other things, too many players taken off of a single team for my liking. Harris was a spread Quarterback, if he was anything. Miami usually tries to run a pro style offense, offering that kid didn't make sense. The same prognosticators that thought the 08' class was good are the same ones that assess every class, guess you just never know.

FSU would have to stub their toe or Golden would have to be the second coming of Vince Lombardi for Miami to reach an equal level with FSU over the next couple seasons. Anything beyond that is hard to predict, college football scene is just too volatile. I don't think that's what this class is about nor should it be.

National signing day is still to come. Who knows what could happen? Anyways, I just thought the comparison of the classes as they currently stand was interesting.

No prob there.
You seem realistic re: the next couple of years, which most Cane fans are not.

You are right, that anything beyond 1 or 2 years is impossible to predict.

I, for one, enjoy having a strong UM. Lord knows, the ACC could use another strong
team that doesn't choke in the bowls!
