The "Lost Decade"

  • With all of this national media attention going on about how FSU isn't holding up their end of the bargain for the ACC, which many have pointed out started in '92 and includes our National Championships, I find this article interesting.

    We consider the 2000's the "Lost Decade", however we rank anywhere from 10th - 15th in terms of overall record during that time...depending on how you slice the rankings (which this article does like a hibachi chef).

    Think about that...we are being criticized for being one of the top 10-15 programs this past decade. A decade we consider mediocrity! I sat through the 0-31 Wake Forest game and felt pretty down about our program, but we DESERVE to feel good about FSU! We deserve to capitalize on our "value" and I don't think the ACC has the balls to do it.

  • If you're going by wake forest or boston college standards sure it wasn't a terrible decade since we were never below .500 or anything

    That being said, by Florida State standards the lost decade has that name for a reason, because it was unacceptable.

    Actually it's worse before 1987 and better for 6 years after 2000, great run of years with Urby for you guys but that's it. Give you hard evidence and we are delusional...

  • I graduated in 1977. Before our win that year the record stood at 16-2-1 in favor of UF. Obviously they had a big head start on us as we had just started playing football again 30 years earlier. Since then the series has been pretty equal with a slight edge to us. Both schools have had runs of dominance. The superiority sense they have is baseless.

    Come on! You want to use the select years your team was good? Why can't we use same logic?

    The last 10 seasons(2001-2011) UF won 7 out of 10. We also out scored you 301-205. Heck, if you want to count the last 4 years we still out scored you. If you want to use "lost decade" as a means to lessen the pain then we have the right to use Urban's mess as our excuse right? Only seems fair...

    We were good when you were not, you were good when we were not. You know the Op is talking about our "lost decade". You gators come to our board and run your traps about "our lost decade" years, but fail to mention our dynasty years.
    BTW ever heard of UF and dynasty in the same sentence?......
