The Chop: Recruiting Alabama

After losing one of their Alabama prospects, FSU is realizing what they got themselves into by recruiting that state -- and it's not going to be easy.

  • Would be a lot easier at 10-2 than 8-4.

  • Eh, we the fans pay more attention to records than the recruits. Recruiting AL is what it is and you are going to have to deal w/ some serioulsy shady schitt if you want to obtain talent from that state.

My fav was the governor himself calling Julio Jones the night before NSD a few years back. That would be another big fish from AL that stayed home after a nice "pep talk".

Those people out there take their fooseball seriously and they aren't going to just roll over and give up their best kids to an out of state program that isn't even in the SEC.

  • I'm still shocked at losing, Taylor. He was one of our most solid. I wonder what happened at the Miss/Bama Allstar game? Did Winston tell him something he did not like? Does this have any effect on his teammate Casher? Shanks is still solid too I hope. I can only wonder what went down at that game over the weekend?

Yes in one year but to say recruits don't pay attention to how a program is trending is different. We are trending average with a small uptick in 2010. I seriously doubt that Alabama paid for Alphonse Taylor and now may not even sign him.

  • As long as we don't lose Casher or Winston, I'm happy.

    RyRog

  • We need Dixon to pop for us. That would help get some Big Mo back and stick it in Bama's face woot

Man i dont know what you are drinking but you need to stop. Don't believe all of the lies that you hear, the gov calling Julio, BWAHHAAAAHAAAA!

    BIGJLAW

  • Remember all the bad rumors Bama was spreading about FSU & Casher when he committed to us? Bama fans are as dirty as a $2 hooker when it comes to taking their targets. If Casher or Taylor end up at either Bama or Auburn then you know $$$ came into it. They were both fed up with the way they were being treated by Auburn & Bama fans and couldn't wait to get out of that state. (Where would you rather live, Florida or Alabama? Exactly!) People that say come to Bama & do not leave the state. They are so full of it anyway! FSU is closer to Mobile than Alabama is! twocents

Yep, that's the secret. Taking kids out of Bama when you clearly aren't on the Tide's level is when it becomes going to the moon difficulty wise.

not being 10-2 and having trickett are the problems

I disagree. Someone promised this kid something that FSU did not. Our record has nothing to do with it. Last year we had the #1 class with 4 losses. Look at Clemson and UGA both 6-7 and top 10 classes.

  • With Tricketts style of blocking I was surprised Tayor committed to FSU...I think we have a better shot at holding on to the other players...

    Bmaster35

  • what other players?

    We only have Glausman

So, someone had to "promise" Taylor something to get him to switch from the 8-4 out of state team, to the home team playing for the MNC?!?!?

Last year we had a top class on the heels of a new, invigorated coaching staff with all world recruiters and a 10 win season.

Be honest, after beating USCe we all thought we'd turned the corner and the kids did too. And we're all cautiously optimistic at best now, after dropping two INEXCUSABLE games to INFERIOR teams.

If you had the option to play for Saban and compete every year for MNC's or risk it and sign with Saban 2.0, which would you do?

I dont blame Taylor at all and expect a defect or two more before it's over, I just find it utterly ridiculous that some feel shananigans must have transpired for Taylor to switch to UA. Had he switched to New Mexico State ... yeah, but UA ... not so hard to believe IMO.

Taylor switched because he wants to play defense and the Noles only wanted him for offense.

    10-2?

If we had a OL, we would have been 12-0. The largest margin of defeat was vs OU by 10 ... all others where even less then that.

    Clemson by 5
    Wake by 5
    Virginia by 1

If we had a OL that wasn't so damn soft, we would be rolling in the title game and just on fire in recruiting.

    Damn you Trickett!!

  • Yeah , FSU( FREE SHOES UNIVERSITY) knows all about the shady $hT !

Alabama kids just know where the WINNING is and not the WHINING........
Bama's Got one TITLE, headed back again this year, and been on the door step the other 2 years of the last 4

FSU........8-4 in the ACC? HA ! they would be 6-6 at best in SEC!

  • People are making more of the Taylor switch than what is really there. He clearly switched to play defense. Had nothing to do with us being 8-4 vs 10-2. But if you wanna act like the sky is falling and be a Debbie downer then by all means, have at it.
