Statement from AD Randy Spetman on the extension
“We are pleased that the ACC and ESPN have readjusted and extended the television package. The addition of Syracuse and Pittsburgh along with the extended ESPN contract further strengthens the position of the ACC and each of our institutions in the college athletic landscape at a critical time. The additional revenue for each school will be significant as is the exposure for all our sports across the board.”

He's the AD...when someone asks for a comment about something that directly coincides with something he is responsible for, he has to make a statement other than No Comment....
His response was cryptic enough that it leaves him an out IF we were to live the ACC

The additional revenue for each school will be significant [$4M is significant but so is $10M, $15M etc.] as is the exposure for all our sports across the board.”
In other words this is a blanket statement with no meaning.

He has to deny everything, as does everyone at Clemson....if it comes out that FSU or Clemson and Big12 were taking about conference affiliation, the ACC could have a 'tampering" claim, or essentially a tortuous interference with contractual relationship claim against the Big 12...this is what happened with aggy when they left for the SEC. The SEC delayed their admittance several times to make sure anything regarding a potential lawsuit would be settled. They last thing they wanted was to have the Big12 pull in the ACC on a charge like that. The damages could have been huge.
Thus, an AD or President will not say a word about a potential new conference until a decision has been made. With Louisville's AD coming out and putting the BigEast on notice of its intentions to leave the league, it can 'officially' begin talking with other conferences. (although, I am not sure what kind of notice the BigEast requires, but Louisville will comply).
