  • lol @ Demps and Bright being in the mix. Maybe against Bethune. I guess you have to put them in there.

  • Justin Bright is still here? Damn he's gotta have grand kids by now!

  • Bottom line, we have a great secondary and can have an injury at almost any position and have a slim to no drop off. A corner goes down, enter Waisom or Hunter. A safety goes down, enter Williams or slide Joyner back and put in Waisom or Hunter. I really love our secondary.

As far as Williams at LB, I'm for it if it's determined to be the best thing for the team. If that position change allows us to get the best and most effective talent on the field, I'd say go for it. I'm almost of the opinion it does. Part of my reasoning is that I want Hunter on the field and we can always put Joyner at safety.

I took heat on TOS when I said these 2 would never be in the mix.

  • Y'all leave Bright alone. He earned his keep against uf

  • Anyone who goes through the grueling workouts these guys go through year around, who find a way to balance their academic schedules with their athletic schedules and who remain eligible deserve my admiration. I am sure it is easy to pack it in and head to a Div. II or III school to play if your focus is playing football. Some of these guys might realize that they are not going to be playing on Sundays and they use the opportunity to get a great education without paying for it. If they do what the coaching staff asks them to do, and they do nothing to embarrass FSU, they can and should be applauded for their efforts.

Kinda how I feel about it. There are lots of players who could leave and have an opportunity to play more elsewhere. But some of them just like being at Florida State. I don't think there's any shame in that.

There are worse things than being a reserve at FSU. Free education, all the Nike swag you can handle, girls still impressed, etc. Not a bad way to spend four years.

  • I really don't have a problems with kids wanting to be on the team, but when they got on the team solely to try to reel a different kid in, and that kid isn't here, I wonder who could be in their spot.

  • Seems as if Bright, Demps, and Gehres have been around forever!

Competition....Competition. That's what it sounds like for the FSU secondary. I think White and Ramsey get in the conversation for PT. Looking for this group to only get better.

Ok....except that doesn't mean he's in the mix. I'm sorry but when I hear "in the mix" I think of players actually contending for PT. Does anyone here honestly expect to see any meaningful PT from Demps/Bright this year? I'm not trying to hate on the guy, but he's not "in the mix" by my definition.

And they're going through these grueling workouts for a reason you stated.....free education. Just like any other student having to balance a job and academics. It's not like they're doing charity work. I'm sure I'll get a lot of downvotes for this since I'm not admiring any football player that rode the bench and kept their grades above a 2.0 but I just feel like you're praising them for not ****ing up in the classroom or not getting arrested instead of praising them for actually going above and beyond expectations.

    Wow. Is this serious?

Why wouldn't it be? I'm not a fan of participation medals.

  • Interested to see how guys like Blake and Keelin Smith respond to the opportunity in front of them. They have intriguing measureables but don't get mentioned a lot.. And PJ will be a stud. I hope he's the first safety off the bench.

  • And it's not about hating on Bright. I appreciate him being a Seminole and I'm assuming he's proud of it...which is a great thing. I will always be supportive of someone repping FSU. But I don't think he's warranted anymore praise than any average FSU student that has to balance a job and academics...yet because he's a football player we should all admire his dedication for doing these grueling workouts.

  • Most of the kids on the team ot just a normal student in college, don't f-up. Most of them do what is expected, hopefiully graduate in 4 years (OK 5 seems to be the new norm). Anyone who makes it through should be admired. College is not for eveyone. Too many people have to go to college to figure out they do not belong. Nothing wrong with them, it is just that the rigors of college are meant to be difficult.

Hoolding downa job while going to college makes things tough. I simply can't imagine that a job equals the hours these football players put in year round. Maybe I do nto understand fully what they do, but what i have erad leads me to believe that they have very little free time ever. Those that excel receive the accolades they deserve. They get drafted and hopefully earn lots of money. The same happens with just plain old students who excel.

The problem is that a C student who excels is only a B student and no one notices. Demps or Bright, or anyone else who is not a starter may well be excelling by achieving more than his athletic ability should allow him to achieve. however, we wil never know it because even excelling he does not possess the raw talent that the starters have.

I admire anyone who will persevere when you know that even on your best day, you fall a few pegs below the guys above you; but you keep busting your ass hoping that somehow you will make it. It is those individuals who keep those above them on their toes.

  • We'll just have to agree to disagree. That's a little too preachy for me. I was going to say more but honestly there's no point. I know I'm in the minority and it's nothing personal with Bright/Demps, it's just the principle of admiring someone for just doing what they're supposed to.
