FSU has the newest member of its coaching staff. Charles Kelly, who served as the interim defensive coordinator at Georgia Tech, will become the new linebackers coach.

I like this hire, some might not agree. Now lets get a RB coach and close like a boss with this class.
In before the "but he coached the secondary" crew got in here!

Its not a hire that wows me on the surface. But, I'm willing to take a wait and see approach. I trust what Jimbo has done with coaching hires.

Now that this is official; maybe Burns could leave at halftime of the championship game and join the staff. If he is indeed the one, its not like he is needed anymore there.

That defense was a swinging door under Groh. Massive improvement following. I bet Kelly is drooling to coach 4 and 5 star players. Good stepping stone for him. I like the hire.

I like this hire alot. Kelly has experience in many different areas (DBs, STs, DC). I love that he's got ties to the state of GA, and everyone affiliated to GaTech seems to really like him. Now let's get Burns!

That the key thing, trust Jimbo. How many of us were talking about Mark Stoops when he was hired along with some of the other names bought in.
Jimbo has done an excellent job of hiring coaches.

Does Jimbo have a rule that his LB coach has to be bald? Travis Jones is bald damn it!
On the surface this hire wasn't very exciting initially, but the more I hear about him the more I like it.

Remember, that nobody had really heard of Eliot before he came here & look at what he did with the DEs. I'm excited...a new DC, and two former DCs to help him out & Ole O'dell to teach em all the ropes at FSU. Defense should be solid, some early growing pains, maybe, but pretty darn good by season's end.

This makes sense in many ways...
-Has known Jimbo since 1993, both about the same age
-Could've become GT's DC and turned it down after dramatically improving their D in Oct/Nov
-At GT since 2006 shows that he already has relationships with GA high school coaches
-ST Coordinator at GT as well, will probably do it at FSU
-Worked under Jon Tenuta, Dave Wommack, Al Groh
Jimbo didn't just hire this guy for his ability to coach LBs. If an experienced defensive coach can be a DC, he can coach LBs.
