Though it doesn't matter, I wonder if Saban contacted Jimbo for permission as is customary. I just can't help but wonder what that convo was like. Hey um, I know he just signed less than a week ago and was there for just under a month but can we hire him from under you? Pretty irritating to see coaches have the ability to do this but kids with only 4 years of eligibility are told to be honest and make commitments. What is irritating is I'm sure his agent said yeah you might catch some heat but all will be forgiven next year and it always is. No matter how dirty, programs will want to win and sell their souls to do so.

That's not entirely true. FSU, financially, would be a middle of the pack SEC school (17th nationally) behind Alabama, UF, Auburn, LSU and Tennessee. They are on par with the likes of Arkansas, USCe and Kentucky (they are loaded, believe it or not). Alabama is the 3rd richest program in the nation behind Texas and Ohio State, so it would be hard to outbid them for a coach. However, FSU is also, historically, very stingy with its assistant coaching compensation. Jimbo Fisher came in here and fixed that problem to a degree and now we offer competitive salaries, but we will NEVER pay assistant coaches above their worth like Alabama and Auburn routinely do, even if they could (and they can) do so.

Let's call it what it is, he's going to a better program, with a better coaches, with better talent, more tradition and returning to a previous employer for slightly more money. He would be foolish to turn them down even if FSU matched Alabama's offer.

Dude worked at Bama previously and is getting more money to go back to somewhere comfortable instead of a completely new venture here.

It's the move i would probably make as well. Sucks, but it is what it is.

Can we consider getting former FSU great wide receiver, Ron Dugans from Louisville to coach the Tight Ends? Just saying. When opportunity knocks, you may want to grab it.
