Should we be concerned?

  • I've got to be honest, I'm quite concerned about the bowl game. I'm usually pretty reasonable when it comes to these things but based upon several factors, it has all of the signs of a potential upset:

    1. The loss of 3 coaches including the play calling defensive coordinator.
    2. Several key juniors who are likely to declare early for the NFL draft.
    3. Playing an opponent they probably dont respect.
    4. Playing an opponent that is hearing they dont deserve to be there.
    5. Lackluster performances against Florida and Georgia Tech to finish the season.

Jimbo has gotten his team ready the past 2 years for bowl games and I know we have way more talent but this game just reminds me of AL/Utah and OK/Boise State machups in the past. Sure, NIU is not as good as those teams (Utah/BSU) but quite frankly neither are we (AL/OK). Am I being unreasonable?

  • The fact that the bowl is a lose-lose situation for FSU should be enough to keep this team focused when they return to practice later this week.

Agreed, I think fsu will destroy NIU by at least 30. It's good to keep an edge though, just in case.

  • I hope our guys play very angry for the disrespect they have been shown by the media all season long.

I am worried, though. Our guys deserve better than the disrespect they have been given.

    We're good.

Jimbo has a little extra time on his hands so he will be coaching up the running backs, calling DE blitzes and contains, serving as the defensive coordinator, and sticking with the conservative guns on offense as usual.

    It's all in the plan.

I hope. I agree with Herbstreit though, EJ will keep it ugly and close.
