Sammy Watkins arrested

  • I really don't think it'll get to the point of actual games missed via suspension. IF it does and he misses our game, we'll never hear the end of it..

  • I'm far more liberal in terms of Marijuana. Afterall, I'm in a country that doesn't charge people for posessing a substance that mother nature herself created.

I will say, however, if you are a part of a team/association/organization, it's just not wise to be involved with the stuff. Why de-rail your future over it? Plenty of time afterwards if you so choose, but don't put yourself behind the 8-ball when you have a chance to do something special.

    Pills are another animal.

Radio station here in SC is saying he was driving an 09 Escalade. That's the most interesting part

I wonder what kind of season he needs to have to drive a 2012?Come on IPTAY,step up to the plate!

  • Clemson will eventually get caught for paying players, because their already has been articles about it. Like the article that came out about Sammys parents staying in a nice hotel.

  • I for one dont partake in weed anymore, but do agree it is similar to booze if abused it can ruin lives. I do however believe student athletes are idiots partaking in either. I am typing this at a tiki bar with a beer.

    Why?

    Because its illegal.

It's also legal for a chicken to have sex with you in Texas, but illegal for you to reciprocate.

It's a really archaic and silly law. Alcohol and tobacco are far worse, even through the eyes of science, but you can freely do that.

There are some backwards laws in the US, and Marijuana laws are just one example.

  • Seminole740, ever drove 1 mile over the speed limit? How about jaywalking? Is it cool if people smoke in Denver or Amsterdam where it isn't illegal?

Despite my screen name, I'm not a huge fan of weed. The least productive year of my life was my redshirt sophomore year in college when I smoked a bit too much. In fact pot becoming legal is probably the best thing that can happen to every non-pot smoker. Would give every non-smoker a huge leg up in the paper chase. Plus it would bring in millions, if not billions of tax revenue that isn't being captured in the informal market.

Pills are much, much, much worse than pot. Smoking pot in college is practically a right of passage and typically becomes less frequent, but getting into pills can be a slippery slope.

  • Marijuana would be legal if the government could control it and tax it.

I would not consider myself a smoker.

If this were one of our players. we'd be pointing out how minor and insignificant this is.

Totally reminds me of the movie "Road Trip".

Dude, did you skin a cheetah???

All jokes folks, just having fun.

An 09 escalade, atteral and pot better be stiffer than 1 game. If he doesnt have adhd or add, the NCAA should be involved. Didn't we end up losing P.Parker for similar issues without atteral??

I think it is a taxable drug. I know if you get busted for it one of the fines can be not having a drugstamp tax license (not from experience, never had the desire to use). Personally, I've never had an issue with it other that its possibility of being a gateway drug.

  • Ridiculous that it's illegal, but still not intelligent for college athletes to indulge in.

There is a separate board for opinions, THIS (or so I was told) is a sports board, take your views elsewhere w/ likeminded types.

As to this: I suppose George Washington himself would be a heathen these days due to his proclivity towards weed (in some of his writings he laments having not sexed his plants sooner, one doesn't do that to make rope). And whomever equated weed w/ alcohol is way off as alcohol is a far more debilitating drug w/ much worse end reults, it just so happens to have a much better lobby, hence it's legal.

It is well known through college football community that clemson pays players, but until the NCAA cracks down on it they will countinue doing it.

The difference is I'm staying on topic about something that is already being discussed.

You used a thread about financial difficulties with our athletics to go on a political rant that was hilariously ridiculous.

Apparently Watkins was driving an 2008 Cadillac, temporary tag number ATD9497.

Here's a copy of the Police Report: http://www.news-press.com/assets/pdf/A418881854.PDF

I've attached a Google Maps image of the address he gave in the police report. I doubt he could afford a Cadillac which can be upwards of 20,000 dollars.

Hopefully FSU fans can run with this, you guys probably have more resources to investigate this kind of stuff because it happened on your home turf. Makes zero sense to me how a team coming off a 6-7 year can get a commit from a player in FSU's backyard without him even taking a visit there.

  • Even though he is a man amongst boys on the playing field, he is still a young man himself. I have made a few mistakes or lack of good judgement in my days. Everyone makes mistakes. Just remember that if you are pointing a finger at someone, you have three more pointing back at yourself. Hopefully he learns his lesson from this and shapes up. Hopefully he uses his platform that his athletic ability has given him to inspire the young kids who look up to him in the fort myers area.
