FYI - I believe the Big12 school get reimbursed for reasonable travel before the profits are delivered to each school. Also, the Big12 "loaned" WVU $10mil for its exit fees. I think the Big12 will recover same by retaining a portion of WVU's revenue over several years.

Here's a couple when the LHN was announced. It makes sense when you think about it. Places like OSU and UF get 10 million a year for those 3rd tier rights that don't include television rights.

Luckily UT was the one ESPN wanted to try this out with and they paid us more than anyone thought possible for it. At the very least FSU should be able to setup something like OU is trying to do with FOX for content.

Just wanted to add that I'm one of the lucky few that have the Longhorn Network and it's pretty freaking awesome. A Longhorn version of Sportscenter every night and watching Mack/coaches during signing day sold me as the greatest thing ever.

Still, if they get $25M we could get $10-15M. We already have $6.6M so you do the math.

Here is what is so amusing: uf's tier 3 is worth 10 million a year in florida but ours is worth, what, zero. Half of UF's number is realisitic.

Figure a 57-43 (between 60-40 and 55-45) split in the respective fan bases-Uf's is bigger, but ours is large as well.

If tier three is useless why did uf get 10 million for them?

Using pure numbers we should be in the 6.5 million range. Even 1/2 that (3 million) is worth a lot more than 850k which is what we get now from the conference deal.

the 20 million number is fairly solid. What I have is doubts aobut is the SEc getting much, if any more money for adding Mizzou and A&M. Mizzou brings no viewers and A&M is barely a top 30 draw and has no presence outside of Texas. I think the long term prospects of TV money are better in the big 12 if we go and Clemson and maybe a UM than they are going to be for us in the SEC. We would add money to either conference but the big 12 is in a better position to make more money than the SEC with right teams being a part of the conference because of more national intersts in its teams. Texas and OU have more of a national following than anyone in the SEC.

Again, I think the probable financials will in the long term be better in the big 12 than the SEC. The potential intersectional nature of a 12 or 14 team big 12 will bring more national viewers which means more advertsing dollars for Tv which means more money for the conference.

Also, when the 4 conference format settles in regarding playoff slots it is clear that the ACC will not make the cut.

You have yet to hear a tv person say 1 set in St louis is worth more than 2 on the west coast to watch a game. That is because it isn't i actually discussed that issue with a few of them this past weekend.

As it was pointed out to me, our contract makes it clear the geographic footprint does not matter. We have (or soon will have) NY, Boston and DC Atlanta and Miami.

Yet our contract sucks. We should actually have the best contract if geogrpahic footprint matters.
