RUMOR: FSU and Clemson Have Contacted the Big 12

Per Greg Swaim.
Supposedly Texas is recruiting both FSU and Clemson to the Big 12, pitching a big TV deal.

Normally I would be like No, but the ACC officiating this year pushed me over the edge this year.

I'm fine with either the BIG 12 or the ACC, honestly. More money can't hurt and the BIG 12 is really good in baseball, and competitive in basketball (football too, obviously). If the money deal is better than the new ACC deal that we will receive when Cuse and Pitt jump in, why not?

Would prefer to get 1 more team near us to join because when it eventually gets taken to 16 there would likely be 4 pods of 4.

That would suck IMO. It would be very, very tough to get to away games. I'd much rather work out something to get ND into the ACC, then pick up one more football school (PSU might want a fresh start in an academic-focused conference) for an even 16 and call it a day
As for officiating, we need to go to a national model where every game has NCAA refs. All this nonsense about which conference officials come from is crazy. We need one set of standards and a weekly blind draw to remove all the claims of "bias"

I have been saying this all along.
Stay in the ACC. Better conference in all aspects. Let's get Notre Dame and Penn State and call it a day.
If not ACC. The only other conference worth leaving for is the SEC.

absolutely agree they intentionally hosed us this year as always maybe more. Time to move on they will never give us a fair shake. We might no have a chance to win a championship no matter how much better we are.

Having us in the big 12 would be damaging to the sec. We draw better nationally than everyone but Bama and uf and equal to them. But the sec can answer "we have the red headed step child of tex and the irrelevant er, mizzou tigers."
Clemson would also be a good acquisition.

The SEC is OUT.... ESPN holds the cards on that deal and they dont wont it for obvious reasons...(they hold the top rights of the ACC and SEC).
ESPN does not hold the Big 12 deal FOX does.
No doubt that the Big 12 has reached out...(with FOX's support) but it would take one (bad word) of a deal to get us to leave....

So we would jump from a stable conference with a few glitches to one on fire that 4 teams already bailed and 2 others were 1 foot out the door? This would be as stupid as San Diego state joining the Big East along with another "eastern" power Boise. We can think of OU and Texas coming to Doak all you want, but how many fans will get tingles to see Kansas, KSU, Iowa State, Baylor or even OSU??

Adding WVU, FSU and Clemson to that conference would stabilize the Big 12 and destabilize the ACC.

The only reason I like being in the ACC is because it blows and we should win it every year. On the other side of things the matchups suck and I love going to away stadiums and the only ones worthwhile in our conference are Clemson and VT.

Why? We would be in a much better conference and be able to tap the Texas recruiting talent along with Florida talent. How can you beat that?

As someone who has to watch a couple of games per year on WatchESPN/ESPN3 I would not be happy with this unless they could move their TV deal to ESPN or have Fox promise that all games would be broadcasted nationaly.
