Question about seating at Dick Howser Stadium

  • Hey guys, Bulldog fan here that's coming to Tallahassee for the Regional this weekend. I've never been on your campus before and am looking forward to touring it and watching some baseball. My seats are in Section 7, Level B, on Row C.... I'm assuming Level B is the upper level behind the plate (which I'm hoping will be in the shade). Is that correct?

Also, any suggestions on good eating places? I'll be traveling with my 13 year old son, so we are looking for kid-friendly and relatively inexpensive places. I've heard about the burger at Monk's, but that's about all I've learned at this point. I would appreciate any recommendations.

Looking forward to a great weekend of baseball. I hope my Dogs can recover from the SEC tourney grind (6 games in 6 days), play our best and give you guys some competition. Your team looks really strong.

    Thanks.

I havent been to a game in a while so in terms of seating, hopefully someone else where can fill you in.I will say one interesting thing you will find is our baseball fans, the animals, are legendary. It's definitely something to make the experience memorable and even as an opposing team, you can help but enjoy the shenanigans. One of the most well known traditions is the singing of "O' Canada" during the 5th inning.

In terms of good eating places and kid-friendly. Monk's is definitely a great suggestion. My personal favorite is Hobbit Hoagies (the one i go to and recommend is the one on pensacola and ocala). For breakfast, i definitely recommend Jim n Milts BBQ. Its very cheap and very good. I usually go there on Sundays as a tradition when i am in Tally. Im sure someone will recommend Momo's pizza which is always interesting. They have some of the biggest pizza's you will ever see (slogan is "slice's as big as your head" and they are HUGE). If pizza is your thing though, i recommend Decent Pizza or Mellow Mushroom instead. If you were going with a family of about 10, then go to Momo's LOL.

Other things to do. Dick Howser is right next to Doak. Make sure you check out Doak and go to University Center C (Doak is also the University Center). C is where the statue of Bobby Bowden is out front. Inside is the Moore Athletic Center and you will see our Championship trophy's and hall of fame and memorobilia from Charlie Ward, Deion Sanders, and other FSU legends. Just something really cool as a football and sports fan to see. Also check out the famous "sod cemetary" which is at the entrance to our practice fields and right by the baseball stadium. Have a nice walk around campus. Wescott Fountain is a must see (you will immediately recognize it when you see it if you've ever seen pictures of FSU) and worth the walk to the other side of campus. One thing thats great about FSU is generally the people are very police and will be more than happy to help you out. Great hospitality. Hope you have a great time in Tally

  • It has been very long since I have been to a game. However if you have reserved seats, which you do, I believe you are in the shade.

  • The lower sections in the grandstand are not in the shade but it looks like you are going to be on the bottom, 3rd row though

    bbnole33

  • Yep, you're 3rd row up behind home plate - very nice seats

you will probably be somewhat in the sun during the afternoon games up to about 3 ish give or take a little; however you have some fans above you that provide a slight breeze as well, which is nice in the heat this time of year. To be on the safe side bring a hat to wear to keep the sun off of you. Not a problem for any of the late afternnon or evening games.

  • Thanks, guys. Sounds like I need to prepare for the sun but maybe search out a couple of vacant seats in the shade for the early game on Friday.

  • Mellow Mushroom Pizza is walking distance from the baseball field and the pizza is really good. I also really like Gordo's which is a Cuban restaurant just down Pensacola street a little further west of the stadium. Po' Boy's is a little further down if you want Cajun food.

The baseball games are always fun at Howser. Especially enjoy the "scenery", if you know what I mean...

    Have a good time,

  • Buddy, make sure you hydrate before, during and after the game. You won't be in the shade, and you might not even be in reach of the fans, so it will be brutal.

Oh and sunscreen, lots of it.

  • I hope to hear a lot of cowbell on TV.
