  • Pugh seems extremely low..

    Kid has 5* film

  • Sweet list.... one question are we to consider Trey Marshall a commit

  • Having 5* highlight film and actually watching actual full games is a different thing. Highlights are great but it does not mean a kid as good as his highlight would suggest. He is a solid 4* prospect with the chance to move up. Remember as well he was at Jefferson County. Have a big senior year and Pugh can move into the top 20-25 of Florida. From 25-50 this year many of the players can move around without much argument. 5 star means game changer...like him but a game changer....I don't know. Let me see his senior film and maybe I change my opinion of him.

  • I think his playoff highlights do more than enough to show he should be ranked higher

He was all over the place

  • Fish- Seems like a decent year for lineman in state, but why do you feel Florida struggles to produce quality offensive lineman. The state of Georgia is loaded with them every year.

    fsukum

  • This is a very good year for lineman. We have not even had spring ball yet more guys will pop up

    ESS2011

  • Maybe I'm off base, but it just seems like the depth of quality lineman is lacking compared to other positions every year, outside of a a few top end players. That doesn't seem to be the case this year, however.

These positions are loaded year in and out"
    RB
    WR
    DE
    DT
    CB
    LB
    S

    These are not:
    QB
    OL
    TE

Is there a particular reason for that?

  • I think Pugh should be a tad higher (not a big deal), but he is not a 5-star. I have disagreed with Fish a ton over the past few weeks (usually over the same topic), but in this case I agree with him, There is a big difference between highlights and an entire game. Not to mention, I really didn't see 5-star film when I watched Pugh (and I really like him). He is not that big, if he is the Ht/Wt that Fish listed, I'd be stunned. His versatility is what is huge with him, but he needs to gain some weight. To me a 5-star is someone who doesn't just have potential, but has proved it. Bill Parcells always said that "potential" means you have no done anything yet, and a 5-star should be someone that has done it. Now Pugh has the athleticism and was productive, but he wasn't the game changer you NEED to be to be a 5-star, IMO.

As far as Fish's list goes, a little sfla slanted (seems like any sleeper he has is from that area), but overall I think it is solid. I think Reilly Gibbons should be much higher and I don't think Ermon Lane is that good. Top 10, sure, top 3...ehh...

    Type of kids in FL...

Look at the state of Illinois. Tons of OL, very few DB's and WR's. Call it the demographics of recruiting. Certain areas produce more of a certain position. There is a reason why teams like Boston College and WIsconsin's strengths are always on the OL and their weaknesses are always the skill players.

Yeah, I know, I am just trying to understand why. Just by sheer population, you would think this state would produce more in the way of lineman and QBs. Even the lineman that are produced here tend to be smaller than most others. The QBs tend to be more "athletic" than natural passers. Is it the style of high school ball that we play in state?

Its an interesting topic. Florida does NOT produce QBs. Look at how many NFL QBs come from FL compared to other positions. I'm not sure there is a starter at QB in the NFL from FL.

  • Go into any high school in florida and most of the 6-6/6-7 guys play basketball. No different then qb-s. most of the good ones are probably playing baseball. Crozea, my company filmed all of homestead games last year. I went through every game of lane and he dominated. Homestead played central, northwestern, south dade, Killian and pretty much every top team and lane dominated. He is doing the same at every event this spring. Spoke to someone who watched lane at alabama camp last year and he said fish only Julio came here and did better.

Interesting point. Florida is arguably the best state for HS baseball talent too, so that makes sense. 6'4, 88+ mph pitchers grow on trees here. If there are a lot of 6'6 and 6'7 kids playing basketball, maybe they should reconsider. This state is not developing basketball talent.

  • There are so many kids playing basketball that may go d2 who would have d1 offers in football. I went to one high school down here a few weeks back and two 6-6 260 pound kids walked in to this coaches room. I was like what is up with those two. Said fish don't get me started both would start on my OL. There are so many of those types of kids in florida. They are lied to by aau coaches that tell these guys they can go d1. They don't relaize that if you are 6-5 and can't handle the rock you are not going d1 in basketball.

  • Fish, I know most people around the area, including myself think that if Denzel Ware follows Pettis to SR then he will wind up at FSU. What are your thoughts?

  • There is a good chance that he ends up at Spanish river. The transfer rules allow that stuff now.

  • Fish I see you have Trey Marshall as a FSU committ, did I miss something? I didn't know he committed.

  • Are you that high on Quinton Flowers as a QB or more of an athlete?
