Please not the Big 10

Again, it could be a perception thing. However, I do think that many of the B1G NFL successes are guys in the trenches.

I somewhat agree but... Antoine Winfiled, Nate Clements, Tedd Ginn,Santonio Holmes , Malcolm Jenkins, Donte Witner, Chris Gamble, Joey Galloway, Terry Gelnn, Bob Sanders, Charles Woodson, Braylon Edwards, Leon hall, Mario Manningham, Charles Godfrey,David Harris, Erice Smith, Vontae Davis, Marion Barber, more more more. BIG10 is far from slow, it's just that the non football schools like Northwestern, indiana don't have enough speed leftover in their region like the southern schools do.

  • Just get out of the ACC! I would be stoked with any of the options, more money of course no matter where we end up. Aside from that if we did end up in the B1G I would be able to get to some games. I'm not sure about the competition though, much like we saw in OSU's games with some southern teams I think our speed across the board would be tough for the B1G to compete with.

The B1G is good for our SOS too. Plenty of overrated teams to rip to ribbons with our speed advantage.

Also good to get a footprint in the midwest, where we can pull some of those buffet busters for the lines, and solid LB's.

Is that supposed to be a bad thing? You clearly need strong lines to win games.

Windsor, Ontario, Canada, to be exact. About 45 minutes from Toledo.

I'd be in heaven watching us spank midwestern schools in person... Lol

Nebraska WAS AAU when they were admitted to the B1G. I think that was the key to their entry.

FSU does boast an excellent medical school, don't they?

Are we a long way off of AAU certification?

    Was in Windsor once.

You're right about NU but they were kicked out literally just a month or two after joining the Big Ten. The Big Ten KNEW Nebraska wouldn't be in the AAU for much longer but still took them. Now that NU is out and doesn't appear to be getting in again anytime soon, it makes it easier for a good but not elite school like FSU to get invited (I'd think).

It's excellent at what it does but it's young and lacks the strong research emphasis that is vital in AAU membership.

If we really geared up towards AAU membership, realistically speaking, we might be 20 years away. We'd probably have to at least double our research in current dollars, so in 20 years that might be more like triple or quadruple. Not sure. I don't see why it's not doable but we can't just f*** around and expect it to magically happen.

Nebraska isn't AAU. And Michigan and Wisconsin even voted to expel Nebraska from the AAU after inviting them to the Big Ten. We are ranked higher than Nebraska in the US News. We aren't a complete outlier in the Big Ten like Louisville is in the ACC. And if we were added with an AAU like GT and fairly well regarded university like Miami I'm not sure it'd matter much.

Would the Big Ten scoff at FSU and let the Big 12 block them out of the Florida market forever? Seems shortsighted on their part if they did. The benefits could be enormous.

This is correct. Nebraska will never be invited back to the AAU, plus FSU is generally regarded as the better academic institution out of the two.

The whole B1G academic argument went out the window when Nebraska joined, just like the ACC's did when Louisville got an invite.

  • lol @ playing all these northern teams. A florida playing in below 40 degrees consistantly is not attractive, sorry.

It is 65' up here in the frigid North today.

  • Anyone see the article today about FSU being ranked the #1 efficient university in the country. In the article Barron says imagine what we could do with another dollar. It's coming people.

There'd rarely be games below 40 degrees and did you even read the thread? Nobody is suggesting it be FSU and 15 northern schools. NOBODY.

  • I would love playing Michigan OSU and Wisconsin and Nebraska but our baseball would be ruined and I don't want that. I'll be pissed if we go to the B1G

I am beginning to think 16 schools is not the magic number for conf expansion.

Even if several schools out of GT, Miami, Clemson, UVA and UNC came along, too?

  • Put it this way........i hate the big 10 so much, that i would rather sign a lifelong contract to stay in the ACC. Or switch to the the big east or sunbelt conference.

I dont want anything to do with the B1G but if UNC GT Clemson and Miami came that'd be ok but that's 17 teams and 18 if UVA came...not happening

  • id love to be in the B1G. get to play against great teams like Michigan, OSU, MSU, PSU, Wisconsin, Nebraska. get big time money. boost our academic prestige. kick some slow ass midwest ass. sounds like a win win to me. not being an AAU is a problem and would hold us backl

  • Big 10 is better than the ACC. More respect, more revenue = win win for us.
I'd prefer stay in the southeast, though. That's where we belong.

Honestly, we have no idea what the end-game is in all of this. You think if FSU, UNC, GT, Miami and UVA all said they wanted to join they wouldn't take them all?

It's funny that people will straight up say "NO!" to the Big Ten but are much more receptive to the Big 12. The Big Ten is easily the better choice.

  • Don't think it would happen but it would be good for me personally, could make most of the road games. I really hope we make a conference change soon.

    GO NOLES !!!
