Sorry to hear that friend. Been through that with 4 elders in my family now. It's never a smooth scenario. If I may be so bold as to offer a suggestion. They may not recognize people, but if you tell them stories of earlier times when you and they were doing something fun and active, they will sometimes smile and those memories will resonate within their cognizance.
My best to you and yours, and I'll get after Baby Jesus and give him some specific marching orders to look after yer Grandmother. He owes me one.

my prayers go out to you and your family. I've experienced this 1st hand as both my grandmother, grandfather, and a aunt had it until their passing. Also i would advise you to get yourself checked because it can be hereditary for immediate family members but can be controlled or stopped if it's detected early.
