Ed Cunningham is an idiot. He said on College Football Live that teams that make less should just "live with it" instead of trying to make more money by going from conference to conference. Huskie Grad.

To me he has always been the worst. In all his money talk, he never brought up that ND could still bundle their 3rd tier rights. May be you guys can bring us some love on College Football Live, The Big 12 has always been thier stepchild.

Maybe he should have kept his first job, less money, but just live with it. I hate it when people are in positions to make national comments about things when they don't try to learn the facts. Maybe he is worried about the Big 10 losing some clout to the Big 12, which may lead to N.D. moving there. Or maybe he is schilling for ESPN, haha.

That is for certain, but Dodds is the only opinion that matters.

What seems missed in all this is the other sports. To me FSU and Clemson will make us that much better year round.

So Texas rules the roost in the B12?

I'm simply throwing things out there that have been bandied about.

The fundraising footprint speaks more to the university as a whole, not just sports.
I'm quite sure the boosters would do better in the Big 12.

The argument is that the University fundraising would not do as well with less of a Easter and South Eastern profile.

Not saying I agree, but the University fundraising is a much bigger dog!

And that's what I'm talking about, not Boosters but those donating for academics. They should care the least what sports teams and conference we play in. This makes no sense at all to me. So people who care about the academic side of FSU will donate less to FSU because FSU plays more sporting events further west instead of further north?

This totally sounds like a made up issue for the academics to use but has no logic behind it at all. Not saying this is you Tom, just addressing the issue in general.

    Pretty much, yep.

At least he is a man of his word because every year during his evaluation Ed asks for a pay cut instead of a raise.

Dodds kept most of the Big 12 out of the Mountain West or CUSA last year by keeping the Big 12 together so there is a certain fealty factor that follows whether or not his self serving judgment of FSU Clemson is sound. Today he is saying UT will go along if the majority wants FSU Clemson but he controls more than half the votes behind the scenes. He wants to have it both ways. He does not want expansion but he does not want to be seen as blocking it either. He is very clever in unproductive ways but amazingly clueless and feckless at the same time. That is why UT has won very few championships in his career relative to UT's huge resource advantages.

  • Just FYI - A lot more support for FSU than ND on the Texas board.

He will be the stumbling block in this. He is making Barron look right. I am getting much more pessimistic about something working out.

Let’s just see what happens in the next couple of weeks. Everyone has to be careful of what they say. What we are discussing is not just moving a couple teams, but potentially destroying a conference. And the lawyers will have a field day if that happens.

yup, the last thing Dodds wants to be accused of is "tampering". Take everything he says with a huge grain of salt.

All of this is not without precedent. The ACC in fact raped the Big East, not once but twice. They survived. The PAC 10 raided the B12. The SEC raided the B12, The B10 raided the B12. The B12 survived. I cannot see whether by practice or precedent, that the ACC has a leg to stand on.

Just last year Baylor was going to take legal action against the SEC over a&m and that stopped the process until that threat went away.
