Next year has been a common theme...

  • We have a really good team this year.

Yes, we lost to Oklahoma...but Clemson...i mean come on. Lets be realistic.

    Clemson game:

1.) Star QB injured (replaced by 170 lb freshman)
2.) Star defender injured (Greg Reid)/Also star special teams player
    3.) WR corp decimated (#2, #3, #4 WR's all injured)

Now look, we still should have won that game but we got penalized, some fair and some bad calls, really really badly.

Fact of the matter is, OL problems, Penalties, ext, that's all our fault. But you HAVE to think between EJ, the WR's, and Greg Reid we would have won that game DESPITE all that crap that went wrong. Despite all that we were at mid field with the ball with 1:30 driving down 5 going for the win.

It is what it is, but once we get healthy we have a pretty damn good team. Next year the defense should improve despite losing Mike Harris and Nigel Bradham, EJ will be back, Rodney and Haulstead are back as big play guys....we look stacked tbh.

You'll believe it when you see it? That's kind of sad. If you can't see how the program is improving now, before we've won anything, then you are missing what is right in front of your face, and what's more, you're missing the fun of the journey.

Every year comes with hype... And we haven't backed that hype up since 2000... I enjoy fsu football as much as the next guy.. But success is measured by wins. OU should have been a W, Clemson should have been a W... UNC, NC State last year... I will believe it when I see it. Sorry if I don't give in to blind homerism.. We are a very under achieving team.. How long have we been saying next year is the year?? I'm ready to see it on the field.

Judging by your post you truly believe next year is the year, no? You believe we will win it all next year? Good, I'm glad you are confident. I will believe it when Jimbo raises the hardware.

When you say that there has been hype every year since 2000, you clearly buy into blind homerism. There were multiple seasons where there was really no reason to be so optimistic. And if you bought into a NC this year, then you bought into blind homerism again.

What I'm telling you is that 10-2 this year is reason to be excited. Heck, even 9-3 makes me happy. Every year that does not end in a National Championship isn't a failure. The best we can hope for as a fan is for our team to improve each year. I'm convinced that this team is better than last year's, and with all that is in place, it's hard to believe that next year (NC or not) will be better than this one.

Dude u make some strange assumptions.... There is hype behind the Cowboys every year.. I guess I'm a blind homer towards them too (even though I couldn't care less about them). "Clearly" your logic is flawed... If you read, I said that I don't buy into the "next year" thing, and never will until proven otherwise. 10-2? I hope so... Again, I will believe it when I see it.

I am not convinced our team is any better as a whole... Our defense is better than we were at this point last year, but our offense is not even close.

  • Why even watch the season then? Just check the standings in mid January. Part of the fun of college football is the hype and passion. You are missing out on the ride and experience with your mindset.

Thanks for sharing... Makes perfect sense.

  • Haven't we already "seen it" though? We were remarkably better last year than in 2009. That really did happen.

    In your case, it does.

If you are implying that a four loss season is the year of the Nole then yes.. You go ahead and bask in that glorious season. It was good, there was improvement, but you are severely misinterpreting the meaning of "our year" if you think that 2010 was our year.

@ Kum -- yes of course, I'm agreeing with you.. Flawless logic.

Are you trying to say that you don't find it worthwhile to be a fan unless we're going to win a NC that year?

  • We are an underachieving team (although we were underdogs in both of our losses) and you won't believe in Jimbo until he brings home the hardware. Your words. Doesn't sound like you are enjoying this year all that much.

You're deductive reasoning skills finally served you right... We just lost two games in a row.. Did u Enjoy?.... I will believe the hype/"next year is our year" when I see the hardware... Is it really that baffling of a concept? FSU is a long way from back.. Show me a flash of what we were in the 90s against a quality opponent and my faith will slowly start to creep back.. If you watch a video of one of our teams from the 90s against a quality opponent, and then compare it to FSU now against a quality opponent and still want to tell yourself we are even close to being back then you are lying to yourself.

Maybe you should worry about this year first? And then at the end of the year start talking about your fears about next year?

Why do you care if someone is concerned about our OL in 2012? I have the same concern. As fans, we are allowed to talk about 5 games from now, 5 years from now and 5 decades from now. We aren't players or coaches. We don't have to prepare for a new opponent each week.

Fine. My poorly worded reply should have been more along the lines "maybe you should wait to see how the offensive line turns out this season before you worry about next."
Basically, some folks don't understand that the season has yet to play itself out fully and teams that look great right now, might not have the same judgement at the end of the season and vice versa.

But carry on with whatever makes you happy......
