New leader for Pennsylvania 4-star QB JJ Cosentino

For Jimbo to tell a QB his offer is committable without ever seeing him in camp... Wow.

That says more than anything else IMO.

This was the first thing that jumped out to me as well. There are things that FSU fans can justly criticize Coach Fisher for.......evaluating and developing QBs is not one of them. If he thinks this highly of Cosentino, I am excited about the prospect of him being a Nole.

  • I know we all seem to be suprised by the lack of offers. Mods, what is the reason for this?

    Seminole734

  • How mobile is he? I want a dual threat QB unless we prove to have a dominant OL which we haven't yet.

  • this kid looks impressive.

This kid is a big time prospect and will continue to progress over the next year.

I've seen him, as well as Christian Hackenberg from the 2013 class, both play live in a game situation in Pennsylvania. I don't mind standing on my own on this one, but I think Cosentino is the better prospect and more polished at this level.

That's a hell of a statement Tom. That speaks volumes to the kid talent if that is indeed the case.

  • How big of a threat is PSU?

Is the young man from JAX off of our radar? What about the kid from Oklahoma?

PSU grabbed the #1 QB in the country last year so I think Pitt would be more of a threat

  • After getting Hackenburg and being so limited in schollies I would assume PSU would hesitate to take a QB this class. 4OL and 4DL need to be their focus and then that leaves 7 guys that need to be very versatile and rugged.

With PSU grabbing a JUCO and Hackenberg last year, I don't believe they will pose much of a threat.

Gillins and Hansen are still on the board, but Gillins is coming off an injury and Hansen hasn't heard much since Craig and Eliot left town.

I find it interesting that a QB guru like Jimbo doesn't even need to watch cosentino throw to let him commit yet he has watched gilliins throw numerous times and he doesn't have an offer. Even so 247 rates gilliins much higher as a prospect. I know it's early but I find that interesting.

I expect Gillins to end up a 3 star at the end of this cycle.

    Scalp 'Em Seminoles!!!

  • Because Cosentino is a MUCH better QB than Gillins. Man, I hope he commits soon!

  • Loved his film. I also love he is comfortable under center.

  • At around 3:15 in that highlight, I was sold. The kid is big, and can really sling the ball around.

We're hard after OL this cycle, so let's hope we can build a line in front of a guy like this. Bring back memories of Weinke.

Not too worried about Penn St because they just got the #1 QB in the country. Can we get a quick scouting report on this guy? Is he a Joe Flacco type with some escapability or is he someone capable of running option plays and having a lot of designed rollouts, etc.

EDIT: I am also very surprised that Jimbo Fisher is pushing for a QB and other teams are not piggy backing that and going after him

I have seen JJ play, and IMO he is very, very legit. Had JJ not been injured as a sophomore, he would have double digit offers right now.

There is much talk about Chandler Kincade in western PA, who committed to Pitt nearly two years ago. Kincade is very talented, but IMO JJ is the better prospect. Not saying Kincade is overrated, just saying that JJ has been underrated.

Thanks Greg. I agree completely. Cosentino is a very impressive prospect, both on film and in person.
